which one? (F1 C or F1 2002)
I've decided i'm gonna break my EA embargo, and try one of their F1 sims, mainly cause of all the cool mods they have.
I really like the look of the sportscar mods for 2002, but i have read some "interesting" veiws on some of the physics aspects of that game, where as F1C seems to be better recived, physics wise. Bear in mind, i've been born and bred on the GP series. so, which is the better one to spend my hard earned on? Ed Last edited by Try Hard; 8 Jan 2004 at 15:31. |

I have them both and to be honest there's not that much difference between them.
They're about the best F1 racing games available.(excluding GPL ofcourse!) If you want a lotta mods right know then i suggest you buy F1 2002. I would buy both though as the new mods are all being developed for F1 Challenge. Last edited by ASCII Man; 8 Jan 2004 at 16:46. |

for F1 challenge there are a lot of mods in development and a few already done:
ETCC(finished) DTM2002(finished) V8 Supercars(beta version released) SCC(sportscar championship, beta version released) Prototype C(group C mod) and a lot more(for info check this site: http://forum.racesimcentral.com/forumdisplay.php?f=478 ) I would go for F1C. |

Plus you should be able to pick them up in the sales. I managed to get F1C for £13. F1C is looking good on the MOD front, but i find there are too many out there for F1-2002! not enough time to play them all
I have found that F1C is a bit more taxing on the hardware. I can run 2002 on max details, but have to reduce the quality on F1C. Err.. Is Prototype C finished?? |

Well I have F1 2002 now, and have donwloaded the Lemans 2002 mod for it.
To be honest the game is a lot beter than i was expecting, although i don't like the numb steering feel (i like a strongish centring effect). Any ideas on how to improve this? Ed (ps, i also have the llm 93 mod, and am downloading the sportscar and GTR mods too... then i'll get turbo'd!) |

and F1 Challenge arrived this morning.
Having now played both i can safely say for F1 driving F1C is the better bet, there is sooooo much in depth in the game. All the tracks, cars and drives from four seasons beats 11 cars and 22 drivers easily. Also, personally I find the physics for F1C more realistic than 2002, plus the graphics have been improved. BUT with the mods avalibe for 2002, so far i have tried LM2002, LM93 and SCR, and they are all brilliant. So it looks like at the moment i'll be keeping 2002 on my system just for the mods. (BTW my current fav is LM93, although SCR runs it mighty close). Haven;t yet managed to get the massive download of GTR yet thought, so that'll have wait and see. Regards Ed |

Have you tried the TurboMod yet? Hustling those beasts through Monaco is a hairy experience. And then for something completely different take them to Suzuka and introduce yourself to 130R. Great fun!!!
