I don't know where the Lotus name came into it. WHat benefit would they get from bike racing, having said that, do Proton make bikes. (unless i'm totally blind and they do )

I don't think Proton make bikes. I've never seen a Proton bike myself, but perhaps the company see motorcycle as a good advertising gimmick. Perhaps they are preparing to get into the motorcycle industry?

Proton owns Lotus....Proton sponsors the KR team and gives access to Kenny Robert and his team to work with proton's engineers for R&D and produce motogp motorcycle engines at it's factory. With the new development of Lotus coming in, means that Lotus engineers will help them with the effort. Now there's Robert's, Proton's and Lotus's engineer working on the 2003 engine. A report in the local daily mentioned proton's ceo saying that if the engine were to be very competitive, Proton would consider producing street motorbikes for the public. |

Proton, as you know, are a one of Malaysia's largest national companies. Malaysia has a project to establish itself as a great technological leader in the world (to great economic effect until 97). The generous support national companies like Proton and PETRONAS to motorcycle teams along with other high profile kinds of engineering, all support this goal (impression?) I can't think of another country in the world that has such a focused aganda. Which is why i made comment refering to Malaysia being semi-dictatorship comment (no other country could acheive such an agenda). The semi-dicatorship comment also refers to the fact that Malaysia is nominally headed by the paramount ruler and has bicameral Parliament consisting of a nonelected upper house (and elected lower house). semi = meaning half dictatorship = nonelected (+ monarchy) Last edited by asha; 23 Oct 2002 at 15:34. |

I vote my state assemblyman and member of parliament. We have elections in every 5 years, for parliamentary candidates (member of parliament) and the state assembly (state assemblymen) in which the ruling party will control the parliament and whichever ruling state assembly will rule the states that they have won. The opposition party ruled two states while the ruling party rules the rest and the parliament at the moment. We also have kings in each states in which they take turns to be the regent in every 5 years. This is a democratic country unlike Brunei, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait etc in which you can call dictatorship |

Whatever you say man,
It was a throw away comment, you asked me what I meant, I told you. I can see you are just taking me up on the few negative points i made. Dont tell me you have never heard Malaysia be called a Dictatorship before? And you call me ignorant? Try having a look at the asia human rights commisions web site? http://www.ahrchk.net/hrsolid/mainfi...vol10no09/708/ or perhaps, Worldview. http://www.geocities.com/harunrmy/92Dictator.html or even, Your own Prime Minister, Dr Mahathir Mohammad ! http://domino.kln.gov.my/KLN/press.n...2?OpenDocument Quote: Dr Mahathir stated that he was also not totally against dictatorship. "In fact, democracy should be ruled by dictator--semi-clean dictator because a clean dictator is not possible''' And. The fact that, elections in Malaysia are so unfairly conducted and prejudiced against the opposition, that they are a mere sham used to endorse the rule of the dictator, "albeit" an elected dictator. And I didn't even go into the problems of Malaysia's 'Special Branch' of the police. |

same to you too asha....for aguy who never came to M'sia sure knows a lot from just reading jibberish articles.
Even AWSJ mistakenly potrayed the Malaysian flag to be as the Indonesians and FEER mentioned that Malysia had few bombings in the last two years eventhough there's none at all! Washington Post once say that Malaysia has a President without even knowing that we have a Prime Minister not a President! Read all you want my man cause the writers themselves are as ignorant as you are. Eventhough i'm not a malay, i'm damn proud that Mr Mahathir is my prime minister and people from all races loves him a lot. When he says that he wants to retire..people of all races cried including me and my wife. Mind you we have Malays, Chinese and Indians living in harmony here. So we don't need ignorant people writing or saying untrue things about us! Last edited by Jukebox; 24 Oct 2002 at 09:26. |

You are really getting to be a real pest... boy! Want to talk about human rights! Everywhere there are violations of human rights in this world..be it in North America, Europe, Africa, Asia and even in the Pacific. Don't try to preach things that you don't even know about...If you want to talk about Human Rights violation, take a close look at what the Israelis are doing to the Palestinians. You thing your government is so perfect? Take a closer look in the mirror and try to rectify what's happening in your own backyard before meddling into other's affair!
What about the Aboriginies and the people that died on the boat trying to enter your country? Last edited by Jukebox; 25 Oct 2002 at 01:21. |

Hey I totally agree with you about the whole Israeli Palestinian thing!
But I said, I'm not patriotic, say what you like about Australia, I couldn't care less. And I didn't say anything about "violations of human rights", I was just defending my sources (the ones you called gibberish). I gave you links to; - The Asian Human Rights Commisions. - Worldview, and - Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Malaysia (press release) My point being, how can you call them ignorant. But it really doesn't matter does it, cause this is a forum, meaning that people can have their own opinions. Hey, did you hear that Roberto Locatelli is going to be on a KTM 125cc next year! |

Jukebox,
I have learned much about Australian history, particularly Aboriginal history, which I have studied for the past two years, and nothing you say will surprise me. I am appalled at the treatment they have received in the past 200 years. It can be termed a historical disgrace. Only now are ancient wounds being healed through the reconciliation process. In the early 90s after the Mabo and WIK decisions, we got a letter from the UN congratulating our government on our reconciliation process and native title legislation. Of course, our current PM Howard ruined all that with his 10 point plan, and subsequently we got a letter from the UN basically asking 'Please Explain?' The politics and history is too wide and varied to be covered now... |

10 point plan? Something ridiculous like the FIA's 9 point one?
KTM in roadraces... what a catastrophy that will be... Last edited by ASCII Man; 27 Oct 2002 at 01:07. |
