Equipment needed for going racing.
So do a lot of Sim racing and in the winter, Ice auto-x. The ice racing is bare rubber, so all they require is an approved helmet.
My dad and I want to make an attempt at going racing this year. We've signed up for Skip Barber at the end of the summer (actually has been our dream to do it for some time now), but we're new to the equipment. Skip Barber asks you have your own gloves and shoes which I'm pretty good on, but I'm looking beyond that and at what would be the essential equipment from a driver standpoint for regular events such as club racing. I figure the helmet, suit, gloves, and shoes. Is there other stuff you would recommend. Anything that having it makes life easier? I'm definitely considering a Hans device as well. Thanks much in advance. |

You list personal equipment, fine, but what about the car?
You need American advice on the roll cage, fire extinguisher(s) seat and harness, specification, or even series specific advice, as the US is, I believe, far less uniform in FIA mandate cover than Europe. In UK circuit racing, a HANS will be essential from 2016. JOhn |
