No Interlagos

Is it just me or was the annual F3000 race @ Interlagos taken off the list for 2003?

Well, with all the teams leaving at the moment, I would have thought they would be trying to save money, and can't see them adding another to the calendar.

No Interlagos
1 less race than in 2002, 11 instead of 12
race #10 (SPA) is still conditional

if its down to money , which i imagine it is , then it makes sense....

but i think that a 11 round championship is too small for a series of its importance.

I saw that Bernie Ecclestone and Gerrald Forshyte want to buy CART in the journal de Montréal newspaper yesterday. Maybe they should think about doing F3000 part of each racing week-ends.

The thing is, all the teams are based in Europe, so the trip to Brazil cost a fortune, from the perspective of F3000's small teams who live hand-to-mouth, mostly choosign their drivers based on sponsorship, so it didn't make financial sense to go to Brazil, or anywhere outside Europe.

These rumours are plentiful. I heard Bernie had bought Brands Hatch last weekend...

If you remember well last year was the same thing, two venue were subject to conditions. Interlagos and Spa I think, and Spa is still conditional this year, so the championship might still end up with only 10 races.

Bernie tried to buy Brands before so he could put houses and a mega Tesco store on the site...so the rumour went in 1985. He lost and John Foulston bought it. Bernie moved the GP to Silverstone shortly after.

Rumour was it was to prevent Tesco's buying the site! Don't forget he was rumoured to be quite a large shareholder in the old BHL before it was bought by Octagon.

The Spa round is gone, unless they plan to share with British F3/GT.

The thing is F3000 teams are leaving the championship, but new teams are entering, if Derek Mower does sell Nordic u can be sure that there will be people waiting to buy the team. After all hes already had offers.

Also dont forget brand motorsport, they have aquired one team and are in the process of aquiring a 2nd team, if this happens it will mean there are in fact more teams on the grid in 2003 than there has been in 2002.

No there aren't more teams then 2002 because there are no actual new teams just ownership changes...duh

It should be disallowed to own more then one team this is a discrace

No there may be a possible new team, owned by Brand Motorsports. You tell me who else is leaving apart from Red Bull. As for it being a disgrace, why? I dont see anything wrong in it at all. If someone wants to own 2 teams let them, its not harming the sport in any way shape or form as far as I can see.

Oh and if there are ownership changes, they are new teams duh, Brand Motor Sports has bought Red Bull Jnr team fair enough, but its their own equipment that they will be using and their own base. That is what a new team is. If you actually bothered to find out u would find that some of the red bull staff have been kept on board but Brand are getting their own personal also, ie David Jensen.
