My first day's marshalling this year

Mallory today - and what a cracking meeting it was. The Chevvy that won the last race was simply AWESOME! Such a shame there were not more cars out in the race though.

I'd been wondering what improvements to the pit lane (still an assembly area until the new gate arrives) had been made over the winter. I can say that the improvements are a new pit wall (with slightly higher armco), resurfacing, slight change to the exit and one white line down the middle which creates an optical illusion of the pit lane being twice as wide as it previously was!

As always, my thanks to BARC for a terrific meeting (and the choccy bars and cans of pop) and of course thanks to the boys in the team - Brian, Dennis, Martin, Terry and Wensleydale! For once, a pit lane (sorry, assembly area) not staffed entirely by 10ths members!

And if Dennis Bassom is reading this - three bits of bad luck in one day Dennis? I'm expecting great things of you for the remainder of the season!

One small critisism from me!
I wanted to be there today and asked BARC at very short notice to send me a ticket.
They didn't have any but was offered the "Spare" tickets of a couple of tenthers on here (Thanks fella's). However, I was reliably informed that without a Paddock pass for the car, I simply wouldn't get in - so I didn't risk coming!

Wouldn't you have thought, that a BARC meeting at a BARC track would have a contingency plan to let in marshals who find themselves available at a late stage!

Not bitter about it at all - but it would have been nice to have been there.

Ah, you silly person! What you should have done was turn up, stick the car on the opposite side of the pit lane, walk over the bridge, pick up a pass from Fred (or someone) walk back over the bridge and drive in!

Ah, no - too much walking involved there then!
