Just thought I'd put in an update on the Paris to Dakar..bike section of course
Day 6.... Joan Roma won the motorcycle stage on his BMW in 3:13.39. Kari Tianen and race leader Richard Sainct, both on KTMs, finished equal second, 26 seconds behind the winner. Sainct, the race winner for the past two years, retained a 5:26 race lead over Tianen, with Roma third. |

So is that the single cylinder bike now?
Did they outlaw twins from the race ? |

The BMW is the single cylinder F650 Fundro (might be off on the name part but it is the F650).
I don't think twins have been outlawed...but I have no reference to check. |

Update:
Frenchman Richard Sainct's hopes of securing a third successive triumph in the motorcycle section ended on Wednesday when his engine broke and he was forced to retire. South Africa's Alfie Cox (KTM) won the stage, his fifth such success in four appearances, although third-placed Italian Fabrizio Meoni (KTM) took the overall lead. "That was the hardest stage so far," Cox said. "There was speed, gravel, sand, huge dunes - a bit of everything in the one day." |

Um...I think I stole the first of Autosport and the second off drive.com.au. It isn't that easy to find these results unfortunately. Even the Sydney Morning Herald has nothing (or almost nothing at best).

Umm, I understand,
This is the sort of stuff I expected bikepoint.com.au to cover - but no. I'm suprised the drive site has it. But then every time I log on I'm suprised by that site. It is good. Go the Beemers. |
