Silverstone SUNBAC - 15th of March
We've discussed this in other places recently, but we haven't had a thread in the Trackside Forum yet, so here we go..
"Silverstone Classic" if you prefer, Tony The infamous yearly SUNBAC meeting is on Saturday the 15th of March on the National circuit. There's another meeting organised by the BARC on the Sunday I believe, but we'll put that to one side, as no-one seems to have a clue about it.. (the most I could get out of BARC's website is that it will feature: online-landlord.co.uk Single Seater series, several non-championship testing races) Championships that will be running at SUNBAC: Primrose Engineering Monopostos Caterham Graduates Caterham SuperGraduates MG Owners Club 'Numeric Sports Racing and GT Challenge' (?) Toyo Mod Prods "Proteus & Revival Jaguar Championship" (Adam?) Classic Touring Cars (Non-championship) (Feat. Classic Hist., Post Hist., Grp 1, Classic Ch..Thunder) Who's going to be there? |

Would be good to check out the MGOC. |

Anyone know how much to get in?
Hello peoples...
How much are Octagonal Motorsquirts ripping off the punters to get in on the 15th? In the dim and distant past, I remember that this used to be a freebie day as it was seen as nowt more than a clubbie day out!! I will be there. Sporting more runs of Kermit Green than Geoff Boycott scored in his test career, with my Toyo Tyres on, and running on all 4 cylinders for the first time this year. Regards Rob. |

It'll be a tenner to get in, Rob. You also should be getting 5 free entry passes if you're competing, and if you ask your fellow competitors nicely, some of them will have tickets to spare..
What are you racing again? We ought to bump into each other at some point... |

According to the Sunbac regs, only 4 passes...
This week I are mostly racing my trusty (sometimes without the first T), Nova GSi in the Toyo Tyres Mod Prods. I've had it for donkeys years, and in a previous life was a front runner in the BRSCC Super Road Saloon championship with it (between engine explosions!). 1 championship, 2 championship runner-up spots, 16 wins, heaps of lap records, but that was a long time ago. I'm just getting back into the swing of things after doing family things... Took it out last August for a one-off meeting, and had a nightmare after the ecu failed the week before and the replacement couldn't be mapped properly. Qualified 20th out of 32 running on 2 cylinders only! Thought I had it sorted for the race, but by the time the lights when green, it was back to 2! That's the second time I've been last. The first time was my first race in 1990!! Perhaps see you there. Look for my service barge - white Iveco Daily, bristling in aerials (for my day to day work). Rob. |

I'll be there too in my white Golf GTi.
Classics race has been amalgamated with Toyo Tyres so it will be quite a full grid. I'm a bit miffed that we'll start 10 secs after the Toyo cars. Assume this is because of the CT cars in our grid but checking the Toyo times from their web site most of them are quicker than me! Oh well - should be interesting. See how long I can survive before I'm lapped! |

It's fairly normal when combining races like that to put the faster cars on the front of the grid. Apart from the time the BRSCC combined full race MGB V8s and Renault 5TS. That was fun...

Anyone got a timetable for this yet? The finals were sent out on Monday, but I still haven't got anything through the post!

T'was a good day, even the weather was kind. Had to (sort of) snigger at the Yellow D-Type replica that wiped it's nose along the armco BEFORE it had even taken the green flag in the mornings practise
Caterhams were their usual fun-packed selves, trying to see the back of the grid from the start gantry was a bit amusing, especially in the twilight with the sun directly in my eyes |

Another D-Type. This one driven by Tony Jardine! He put it on pole and finished 2nd after a very impressive drive.

This picture gives a good indication of how dark it was by the time the Classic/Toyo Tyres race had finished (this is the chequered flag). It was especially difficult to see quicker cars coming by to lap me coming down the start/finish straight.
Good day though, my race report at www.spnracing.com. http://web.ukonline.co.uk/peter.nixo...s/DSC09546.jpg |
