Argentine Touring Car Series 2022
Since most of the discusion on the 2021 thread Is already about 2022, and all the series finished their championships, it's moment to start the 2022 thread to compile what we know about next year.
Starting with Super TC2000: Confirmed: Renault Sport Is no more, but the Ambroggio team will continue with a new main sponsor, same drivers (or at least they intend to, Pernia Is confirmed so far) and some support from Renault. Jorge Barrio to "replace" departing Rossi at TGR, the 17yo kid Is really fast (he won both 2021 tc2000 and FR 2.0) AND being under the TGRA umbrella could bring a lot of oportunities both locally and overseas in the future. DTA's Cronos aren't coming back to race on the series, due to what Armelini, DTA's boss, described as unfavorable circunstances. Rumors: JP Carrera team to take on the Chevrolet YPF representation (almost confirmed it seems) TN and STC2000 to Clash a lot in the calendar, according to Última Vuelta (grain of salt) with both APAT and STC2000 owners being firm in their positions. |

Turismo Nacional:
New cars homologated, class 3: Nissan Sentra, Citroen C-Elysse. Cars no longer allowed to race: Mitsubishi Lancer GT (BOPped to oblivion, nobody used It anymore) and past gen Civic. Last year for the 1G Cruze, but most are changing it for the actual generation. New for Class 2: Renault Sandero and Toyota Yaris (and i think the Chevrolet Onyx) Out: Chevrolet Classic (Corsa) and Renault Clio Mio Also an Errata on my part: when posting about the champions, i got the wrong Abdala, the actual class 2 champion was Emanuel, not Cristian, that also runs on C2 and won his first race this year. New support series to debut: Copa Abarth, using Fiat 500, intended to young Pilots as a first foray on touring cars, akin to a Fórmula Renault/F3M equivalent on tin-tops. Not a rumor per se, but when talking about the STC2000 Cronos, Armellini said something curious: He said that te cars will not race on the Super, so they'll remain unused unless there Is a change on the TNC3. Also, if the clashes are confirmed, this could be the TN starting to fight for the 2liter crown against STC2000. |

TC:
Toyota to participate with the Camry, the car should be open to anybody interested and aproved by ACTC to run with the brand. Testing for the BOP to start on January 15. Werner to change teams again for 3rd year in a row, but maintaining his technical team and mechanics. Suposedly to start a new team in a shop with TC pista pilot Lugon. Mostly a rumor, but circulating as a fact: Canapino to run as a "works" Chevrolet under the JP Carrera, the team's aparent link with the STC2000 Chevrolet program, reinforces this. There seems to be a new trend of less "each pilot on his own" team focus and more as a conventional multi-car teams, with, for example, both of Guri Martinez cars runing Dowen Paggio as a main sponsor, also the TGR and Renault teams and the G129-Ponce de Leon consolidation, this could be an interesting trend if catches on. Talkin' about Renault: the team has no functional changes, maybe a change of name to reflect Renault Sport changes. Josito di Palma can't seem to find a team to establish himself on, even with his consistents results, he changed 9 teams in 12 seasons on the series, now his chanhge from the Máquin Parts to Uranga Racing went down so he Is talking with Savino Sport. Máquin Parts established itself as the "Torino squad" having 4 cars of the brand for 2022, mantaining Gini (with a brand new chasis), Todino (last 2021 race winner) and Agrelo with Urcera coming to drive Gini's old chasis. |

Had to work so, left mid resume.
TCPK Te biggest 2022 thing should be the anouncement of a "B series" to support the TCPK, ACTC is expecting to show something on April/May as earliest. This could be in response of an eventual TCPK upgrade to a full fledged national championship. New teams anounced, most interesting ones are the Ford Ranger Team, with 3 "Works" (???) Rangers, for Jack, Ventricelli and J.B. de Benedictis. Also the reinforcement of the Guri Martinez Competicion, with 2 Rangers for the Guri, and his son, Agustin, and 2 more under the SAP team. The LCA-Lusqtoff Racing will also present 2 trucks, Hilux in this case, for TC 2nd place Lambiris and first woman in the series, Ianina Zanazzi. There wasn't changes anounced for TGR, Octanos and JPG so far, in the last case there should be interesting how the single Ranger driven by Gianini fares against multi-car teams. All in all, with the exceptions of, Chapur, Gaston Rossi and Mazzacane(Nissan Frontier, Fiat Toro and VW Amarok) most of the strong lineups are going for Hilux (Hiliix? Hiluxes?) and Rangers. As of rumors, Trotta wanted to introduce an oficial Renault Alaskan last year, allegedly had the chasis but with the changes at Renault could not be possible now. |

And Finally Top Race V6
Should be treated as a transition year, with minimal aesthetic changes for the silhouetes and the replacement of the Toyota Camry by a Lexus body. The 2023 V8 cars woud test along the year, driven by many of the series pilots. This car should be a big improvement over the current ones. |

A great summary of some of the things to expect this coming season.
TC, Tcpk and TN seem to be getting stronger each year, could we see and end to St2000 in the years to come? |

There were rumors about the sale of the company that owns the STC2000, itself owned by the Clarin group, but its not the first time that rumor appears.
Whatever happens, something needs to be done, the series lost a lot this last couple of years, if Ambroggio/Renault retired the team after Renault Sport went out, that could been fatal for the series. What is interesting that the series that are doing well are self-owned and ruled by asociations mostly made by pilots, both old and current of that series, the APAT, presided now by Moriatis, and the ACTC, by Mazzacane, and with a lot of "heavy" names on the comisions. The ACTC Is also particular in that also fiscalizes, both technically and disciplinary every series under its umbrella. For all the "corruption" and whatever other thing every unhappy fan, that Is always unhappy unless "his Pilot" or brand wins, acuses the ruling bodies, man, they're doing a good Job. The Levy brothers, that took care of the TR also seems to work seriously towards revitalizing the series, time will tell. |

Will Pro racing continue in STC2000 if JP takes over the running of the works Chevrolets?

They did this already, changing from Pro Racing to JP and back to Pro racing, last change was 2013 i think (2nd Super season) neither team ran without Chevrolet support afaik
And IMHO, JP carrera now Is a mess, they don't deserve a works deal, just the way they treated everyone of their TC drivers (and with Ardusso fighting the championship most of the year, saying that they had no place for him, then signing Canapino and Mangoni) on 2021 should show how awfull Lema's attitude is. I recall having read that the former Renault Sportteams could be rebranded Concesionarios Renault (dealers association).

Jokes aside, at least name it Fórmula ACA, or F4, formula 2.0 sounds so dumb. At least they have the new Crespi chasis incoming. |

Wasn't it renamed Fórmula 2.0 Pirelli back in 2018 or so?

Acording to SoloTC, the tests for the Camry will be held on January 24 and 25 on Rafaela and Paraná, with Canapino and Ardusso as pilots, who will be also driving a Chevrolet as a reference ( not mentioned if the Chevrolet(s) are the usual cars of the drivers or a different chasis.
Rossi and Jakos (The Toyota drivers) will not be taking part on the tests There will be a bunch of engineers, téchnics and team directors from established teams, including Cruzzeti, who was with Canapino till the end of the season, there are also expected some engine builders to add viewpoints on the Cherokee performance. The Rafaela test will focus mostly on the aero performance with Paraná used to add more data on the other aspects. |

Acording to some rumors, STC2000 could already been sold, its new alleged owners are already managing another category.
So, APAT/Moriatis (TN) or the Levy brothers(Top Race/CarX), i think these last ones are more likely. I don't think ACTC Is involved, they have their hands full already. Or maybe Someone different, who is in charge of TCRSA? |

The STC2000 deal should be formalized by next wednesday acording to journalists, with the Levys being the buyers.
Talkin' about the Levys, the Top Race will finally start its season on the Buenos Aires circuit, using the 8 variant, the 27 of februrary. The date was already confirmed but not the venue. Arround 60+ cars (if not 70) expected between TRV6, Series and Junior. |

I wonder what direction they will take with STC2000 and TC2000, could there be some sort of merger with Top race.
