What if....
What if NASCAR hadn't banned the Plymouth Superbird or Dodge Daytona after the 1971 NASCAR season? What would cars look like now? How would the racing be today?

I don't think they would be too different today. The changes to the cars in the late 70's and 80's was more due to Detroit downsizing and changing their models than anything. Even they weren't banned the models we know would have only been eligible for 4 seasons or so per NASCAR rules at the time. The Road Runner and Charger were also changed in 1971 to a new generation so Mother Mopar would have needed to create new versions (which they were developing), and its hard saying how successful they would have been. After 1974 or so these models were canned in favor of giant boat mobiles and then around 1980 Chrysler pretty well ran out of money and left racing. The other manufacturers downsized cars due to the fuel crisis. Personally other than extending the models run for a few years I don't think it would have changed much.
