BMW Engines

Someone in another thread said they thought BMW should ditch Williams. Now I know that BMW have signed a contract with Williams for "X" years and are threatening to pull out if V10's get banned but it got me thinking.

Sauber, as has been said in the Sauber & Fisi thread, are having quite a tidy season. Their wind tunnel is starting to show fruit and they are nipping at the big boys heels. What would they be doing if they had full BMW manufacturer support? Would they be beating Williams?

Discuss....

Very tough task, dear DS.
By the way we have to consider that the Ferrari engines are not that bad, surely outperform the BMW in terms of reliability.

Thus I don't really know, I agree with you that the swiss team have progressed a lot in terms of aerodynamics, but a car, to be excellent, must be very top in every aspect, and with the current budget I don't think there's much room to become, say, like Williams or better.

Sauber ARE doing very well now aren't they!
And it's just as you say-the wind tunnel is the thing that has changed their fortunes.
BMW wouldn't be remotely interested in sauber though-they'd want a proven winning team.

Brabham wasn't a proven winning team back in the late 70s/early 80s.

They have the best that Maranello has to offer, not sure about you but this season I would want that instead of the BMW

If Sauber had BMW engines and Williams had Sauber's F2004 engine (probably not developed like Ferrari's varients), I don't think Sauber would be beating Williams.
