The blend line on pit exit?
We all know when exiting the pits that you can't move across the blend line on pit exit, or you'll suffer a penalty.
But what about the other side? Are those on the race track allowed to go over then blend line from the other direction? |

As far as I know yes.
If they do then there are probably trying to avoid something anyway (perhaps -wisper it- attempting an overtaking move). I suppose you could also be trying to defend the inside line there too at most circuits). Also you will generally be going quicker than a pit exiting car, so you should be careful, but once past the area where you can see the pit exit no one should come out of the pits faster than you are traveling and hit you in the rear. In theory. |

Thats what I thought Adam. I was just watching the race again and noticed Kimi go way over while defending from Michael.
I thought that was the case |

Going over that line is the only way a car can overtake going into turn 1 at OZ, if the racing starts getting too exciting this year, i reckon that old Max will bring in a rule to prevent cars going over it

We can make it official then, single file, no passing.
If thats the case, I'd like to change my predictions to the Safety car as the 2003 WDC, and Mercedes for the WCC. |

I have a daring proposition: remove the stupid bloody lines.

if i remember correctly then the racing line at the French GP takes the drivers very close to or over the line anyway.

They have blue flashing lights on the pit exit as well to warn the exiting driver if there is faster traffic about to pass the pit lane exit. It saves a flag marshal having to stand there waving his blue flag.

Theres a sensor that alerts the people in the pit lane that a car is coming in (i presume it's a sensor and not some bloke pushing a button), but for a blue light to be activated by a sensor on the exit, the sensor would have to be along the pit wall or something. My guess is a marshall works the sensor as oppossed to it being automatic.

The blend line in Aus looked very worn out and dull... plus there was another line in the middle of the pit exit which when u couldnt see the real one looked mighty similar to the real thing. Even the TV commentator made that mistake. If someone had 'just' crossed the line there would been controversy again. Youd think they would paint a new line before the race...

MrV, to be fair, if I recall, TGF probably didn't go over the line, and so not directly in relation to the topic here, but was what I thought of when seeing the comments (and wondering just how much he really did or didn't see (as with Hill in 94 etc), in the end, only he knows.

Least Oz isn't as bad as Sebring where the pit exit spills onto the racing line in the middle of turn one |

The MS incident in Canada was 1998, and as far as I am aware ther were none of these stupid line things then. The incident with HHF was just that, there is no way it was anything deliberate by Michael. He had nowt to gain. Anyway, he got his 10 second stop-go penalty for whatever he was meant to have done. He still won the race, like.....
