Vicki should be qualifying in the top 5 on the gridVicki should be qualifying in the top 5 on the grid
My first Event!

After being on here for I don't know how many years, I've finally been to a race meeting, of sorts...

It was actually the UK Truck Show at Santa Pod Raceway. I got to watch lots of different types of drag racing, from BTRA trucks down to lunatics on modified motorcycles!

It was because of a local production company giving me a work experience placement, so if anyone was there today, I was the girl in the hi viz jacket with the camera crew I enjoyed it but:

I'm now more appreciative of my hearing!
I think my life expectancy took a hit with all the tire smoke I inhaled!

But, it was so nice to be trackside, and just enjoying it, as well as obviously, working as I was meant to be.

I tell you what though, they had a jet car there, and I REALLY wish I'd had ear defenders because the noise of that thing was just epic!

Also, does marshalling work differently there? I saw people inspecting the track (another good point, they are VERY serious about "no racing if it's even damp in the air"), but everyone was in normal clothing (ie; no orange people!). Just curious.

Anyway, I'd love to see the trucks on a circuit, has anyone been?

I go twice a year to the races at brands hatch. It is always brilliant, and the support races are also very good.

I would certainly recomend it...seeing the racing trucks side by side at 100mph around the tight and twisty brands hatch indy circuit is spectacular!

Ah, but I'm 19 and doing a Media Production degree, so this is necessary work experience.

Filming in general, but this opportunity came up and was sort of a dream come true (can't drive due to eyesight, so tracks are a bit far to get to).

The trucks are at Donnington Park on August the 8th and 9th, followed a week later at Thruxton for the international truck challange.

And of course, back at Pembrey in October.

[where I shall be marshaling, not filming]

Ah so it's just drag races that lack the orange people then?
