Minardi-Ferrari?
From DailyF1.com:
Paul Stoddart, the Minardi supremo, has admitted he will be ready to take on Prost’s supply of Ferrari engines if the French team decides to pull out of the agreement. Stoddart has long been searching for a new engine contract for next year, realising that he cannot continue with the aging and overweight Cosworth V10s if he wants to realise his ambition of reaching the midfield. Prost currently uses a supply of the Ferrari 049 V10s that Maranello used last year, but it has been reported that the French team is struggling to meet the payments even though Acer, the computer hardware giant, backs the deal. ‘I’ve talked with (Ferrari Sporting Director Jean) Todt and I’m ready to come in if Prost doesn’t,’ Stoddart told “Motoring News”. ‘A European Minardi Ferrari would be a great thing and we could finally have the satisfaction of making it to the points.’ Minardi has already used Ferrari engines – in 1991 then team boss Giancarlo Minardi struck a deal to use the Maranello marque’s 3.5 litre V12 units. All I have to say is wow! Imagine the Minardi's with a good engine! Think of what Alonso can do with some Ferrari power! |

If Arrows do get the second supply of Renaults, then i think Alonso probably will go to Arrows, but i hope he stays at Minardi, My (Australian) team needs some good driver's, hopefully the Ferrari deal is true, then the Minardi's could be up with Arrows and so on.
If Arrows get the Ford engine's, who do you think will get the second seat, Kristenson (if he becomes Jag tester), Lotterer, De La Rosa to make way for Franchitti. |

i do hope minardi get the ferrari engines, because they really deserve something good like that. the chassis is very good, apparently... |

Simply, all us Minardi fans will have our fingers crossed that we get rid of the old (but faithful) '98 Cosworths in exchange for a Ferrari, a Renault or a NEW Ford engine. I, along with Badoer Fan and Minardi Man, would like to say PLEASE!!!!!!
Time to pray: Oh Just Paul Our team saviour Deliver thy engine To power thee team To glory in F1 With young Spaniard Young and fast Oh please!!! please!!! can we score some points Amen |

Sorry,i can't see them making MUCH better use of the ferrari engine than Prost have .I'd very much like to think otherwise. At least it WILL get them off the back of the grid and help greatly with getting the momentum to move forward!

The Minardi chassis is known to be among the top 3 in F1 - if it weren't then they'd never qualify. A team with an engine so poor HAS to design the best chassis to stand a chance.
Our fingers, and everything else, are crossed... P.S The Arrows-Cosworth thing is a DONE DEAL. Last edited by Minardi fan; 20 Jul 2001 at 21:45. |

Alonso is NOT going to Arrows. Trust me on that. How may a be so sure? Well because I'm good friends with the P.R. person at Minardi at she's told me that Alonso staying for next year unless something were to happen at Minardi next year (like no engine).

I'm sure Honda would be glad to have one of next years top-3 teams using their engines. |

Because when it comes down to it, no-one wants to supply backmarkers.
The PS-01 is Minardi's weakest chassis in ages, but now the new rear end is on, it should go much better. |

(sorry, did i just say that out loud?!) the gearbox didn't go so well in the test, apparently, and worryingly, alex yoong in the old minardi was just as fast as the new minardi really. i find it strange that all this board can talk about is minardi. it shows that mr paul's evil world domination plan is working... |
