celebration of motorsport bathurst 2008
Hi guys, My name is Peter Whitten, one of the 4 organisers of FOSC (Festival of Sporting Cars Inc).
You may have heard about this new event as part of our annual program for next year. We feel very privelaged to be invited by Bathurst Council to run a grass roots Motor Sort meeting on Mt Panorama for the next 10 years commencing next Easter. Some of you may have already experienced our laid back but professionaly run meetings we commenced at Wakefield Park in August 2005. One of our fundemental conditions of entry for competitors and officials is they must have fun at the meeting. Over agressive drivers and overly officious officials are not welcome. As race promoters 3 of the 4 members of FOSC Inc are competitors and the 4th, Charlie Jardine, is our Clerk of Course/event director. He has been arround the motor racing scene for atleast the last 30 years and runs a tight, friendly meeting. We would like to let it be known we are very official friendly and hope to attract additional officials, of all types, to help us make the Bathurst meetings the best overall evnt of its type in Australia. For officials we plan to offer free camping, breakfast and lunch, low cost accomodation for those that dont fancy alfresco living and for Victorians coach transport. Also given there are enough flaggies we will rotate them to rest them and also give a variety of track locations over the weekend. Oh, must not forget to mention our catered, Saturday after race party for all. Families are welcome and we plan to arrange trips for them to experience this wonderful region. In addition to the race meeting Friday-Sunday we plan to have a hill climb, motorkhana, 4WD event and static display events over the weekend. Also Mecedes-Benz will be running a 4 day corporate event the commencing the monday prior, some officials will be needed for this also. So we will need twice the number of officials we would normaly need at our regular meetings so please give some thought to joining us. If any one would like more info please email me at peter@fosc.com.au or phone 0411522 |

Welcome Peter....looking forward to much more detail of your program for the FoSC....the lack of detail is hampering the need that people have to plan ahead.
The outline you have provided sounds very good as far as it goes and it is what people have come to expect from any event Charles is associated with....but generally, people will need more detail to commit (looking forward to an email from your team outlining the program and highlighting the arrangements you have made for Officials - we don't even know if we are required for Friday or the number of days there will be racing at this stage). I started a thread a while back on the FoSC and I encourage you to take a gander and comment as you see fit: http://tentenths.com/forum/showthrea...highlight=fosc Oh...and your mobile number is incomplete. Yours in Motorsport, Mick |

Keep the info coming, Peter. This may be the perfect excuse to visit our daughter in Perth (again) and for me to pop round the corner to Bathurst for the weekend. OK - I know there may be a couple of blocks between but I never was that good at geography. Missed out on playing out at Barbagallo this year due to circuit surface problems, so having got the pass signed for that, Bathurst should be a breeze! Starts with a "B" anyway so that's enough for me!

Hi Mick, as you know Charles and may be interested in assisting us in some way, you might like to mail Charles direct at charles@fosc.com.au
The meeting is a 3 day meeting with friday completely devoted to our masters training/track familiarization and Sat & Sun racing. As mentioned, the preceding 4 days, Mon-Thurs, Mercedes are running their corporate event. We know they will need some officials but we are still waiting for CAMS to tell us what they expect. Any assistance you may be able to give us would be gratefully recieved. Our web site www.fosc.com.au will be regularily updated as news is available. Thanks for you interest. Regards, Peter Whitten |
