Does anyone know, is the Naoki Hattori currently in Formula Nippon the same person as the one who failed to prequalify for Coloni/Andrea Moda at the end of 1991? And is he related to Shigeaki Hattori, who raced in IRL last year?

Naoki Hattori is not related to Shigeaki Hattori. They both raced in CARt during 1999. I am not sure if it is the same Hattori that tried to pre-qualify an Andrea Moda for Japan/Australia in 1991.

I have been doing some research and it is the same Naoki Hattori, who tried to pre-qualify for the Japanese and Australian GP of 1991, in the Andrea Moda/Coloni.

Yes, is the same Naoki Hattori who drove for Coloni in late 1991 F1 season. At these times he was on Japanese F3000, and he was again here when the category changed its name to Formula Nippon. He raced for years 1994-95-96 for Team LeMans, the last year alongside Ralf Schumacher. Also on year 1995 he raced eigth years on F3000 with Auto Sport Racing. In 1999 he raced in CART with Walker racing. On 2000 he returned to F.Nippon on Team 5zigen, where he actually is. Now Hattori is expected go get his first title on the F.Nippon.
