Any one know how i can buy a childs ticket for the GP as we are taking my son this year and will need to buy him a ticket. Have tried calling the booking line but they could not help as they have to sell a child + adult, any suggestions gratefully recieved.

Same here.......I wanted to take the Missus on my guest pass and get 2 kids tickets. Any other meeting, the kids would be free!
So, now it starts to get expensive - so am going on my own!! |

Contact the Gp box office, explain that you're going to be marshalling and that you need a ticket for your child. They have accomodated this type of request in the past.

Hi
I was able to get child tickets last year, all the box office asked for was my marshaling number off the invitation letter. |

I paid £50 last year to get my partners daughter in. They took all my details ie post and duty, paid over the phone, no real hassle

Perhaps this issue is something the BMMC could take up on behalf of all marshals to ensure that we are able to purchase children's tickets alone for next year's event.
After all, it's not the computer's fault, it's the fault of the people who specified the software to the software writers'. We talk to them and get them to change the software for next year. It's probably too late for this year. |

Thought I'd better add a reply........
Many thanks to those of you (And there's been quite a few) who have PM'd me with offers of help regarding child tickets. Your kind gestures are appreciated. The simplest solution for me was to get the In-Laws to take the two kids camping on the same weekend.....which I'm sure they'll enjoy more than the GP! |

Just contacted Silverstone and yes I can get child tickets for the GP, but, the price £118 each!! I don't think so somehow. At this moment I am thinking of ditching the whol GP idea.

That's a disgrace, IMO. Are we trying to encourage youngsters to watch motor racing - not at the ''highest level", it would seem. |

I have spoken to Silverstone on your behalf and have been told that you really should have enquired about these tickets as soon as you knew you had been invited to officiate at the BGP. You should have spoken to Pam Dearn who would have verified your duty etc and she may have been able to get additional childs tickets (I don't know what the cost would have been).
Silverstone have been really helpful and suggest the cheapest option as things stand at the moment, is to buy a childs bronze terrace ticket which for all three days costs £82.50. My advice would be to speak to Pam today and explain your circumstances and ask if she is able to help. Please don't get irritated with Pam if she is unable to help as like everyone else, she has to follow the rules and guidelines. However, I am sure she will help you if it is at all possible. |

What has changed this year then, I phoned up 1 week before the event last year and got 2 kids tickets with no issues at all, the girl was very pleasant. It was such short notice I had to go and pick them up at the circuit on the Wednesday as I had missed the last posting date. The reason I was so late in ordering was trying to justify to myself why I should spend 100 quid to take my 3 & 4 year old kids with my wife rather than leave them at home all weekend. Mind you should not grumble - they were good enough to say my 4 month old could get in free.
Fortunatley I am not taking the family this year, as it would be a fairly easy choice if it was 87 quid each. |

well stephen if that was the case that WE had to contact Pam , WHY the hell was this info not put in the pack that is sent out to us. I have two kids and wife coming to the GP . £100 Pound i accept for two Kids but £165 or £236 no way.
For the time and cost traveling down for Scotland with this Extra cost forget it . And they wonder why they can`t get marshall`s for the GP ,,, Bring on the Britcar 24hr |

We regard British GP as good value for money IMHO, When compared to prices paid to watch football or rugby matches. |

I often look at our hobby and think, jesus i spend a lot. then i look at the things i do when i am not racing and think, well actually that is a whole weekend, not just an afternoon in the pub, a couple of hours at a match. I sold my V festival tickets to go the the Truck racing last year.
However I digress, I still think that price for kids tickets to the F1 is a little unsatisfactory. We don't have kids but at those prices I am sure Dee and I would find something else to do that weekend. Don't get me wrong I love my GP weekend. |
