Is Alesi On Prozac?
Watching the coverage the other night at the end of the race did anyone else see Alesi do the 180 burnouts, hurdle the wall, throw his helmet in to the crowd, dance between the cars and embrace his team?
I had to remind myself that I wasn't watching one of those emotional Brazilians In Cart, but a crazy Frenchman in F1. I think he finished 5th. I hope he lays off whatever he is on as imagine the display if he won! Congrats to Prost on finishing a race! |

He didn't cool down after the race either. About a half hour after the race he came out of the paddock again, and began jumping in the air for the crowd on the starting grid, which went mad!

Perhaps his exhaust broke and was leaking into the cockpit?

And people were acctually saying that this man was going to retire from F1 at the end of this season.
Alesi seems to be reborn latley. Isn't it obvious that his love for the sport is still there. If he does that for 2 points imagine what he'd be like if he won again. I think its great. We need more guys like Alesi in F1. Reminds me of the good old days aswell. Niall |

Amen to that. Emotion - that's what it should be all about.

More guys like Alesi? Sure, why not stick Murray Walker in a Ferrari?
He'll never win again - which is why he was so 'appy with 2 points. I think this will be his perfect opportunity to retire - leave on the crest of a wave... |

Alesi never lost it, but I think that point from Monaco spurred him on. I look forward to him scoring even more points - even if it does put Prost way ahead of Minardi...

And another thing... Did anyone else get that tingly feeling seeing Jean celebrate? Like someone has already said, it's what this F1 thing is all about. Marvellous.

I do agree. Jean is one of the biggest characters in F1, but he is a character in a good way (as opposed to some other drivers). It just kind of pains me to see one of the most talented drivers in the last 20 years to not really have a car worth his talents. Yeah, the Prost is getting better, but that's 3 points in 2 years for Alesi and the pointless year really wasn't his fault as nobody on the grid could have possibly brought that car home in the points.
Alesi is having a resurgence. I hope that he's able to milk this for a midfield ride or perhaps a top ride in CART. Either way, it's just great to see him succeed. |

What's the matter AJ, don't you like seeing blokes enjoying themselves?
I thought it was great. We need more people in f1 that actually have a personality. |

I just hope Liz was there to see all that. Alesi is one of her favourites. Wouldn't it be great to see him in the Williams?

Come on drexel. You can't say he doesn't want to win a race. Remember, he's driving a Prost Acer. I doubt a Prost would win if all the other cars dropped out. Wouldn't you be excited if you finished a race in a Prost, let alone got two points in one?
I'm sick of all these talking, driving robots that always say and do the right thing. Let's get a bit of human emotion in there. |

I like Alesi but i think it says alot, that for all the talent the man obviously has, he's ended up driving for team like Prost. Yes it is romantic that he went there because the team is a French team but he is 37 now and dissapointing that he never made more of a mark on F1. Especially when we've seen guys like Hill, HAkkinen, and now DC fight it out for WDC's.

Mac,
I personally thought it was fantastic footage and yeah I would like to see more of this in F1. Just thought a display like that for 5th place rather amusing and I couldn't remember ever seeing anything similiar from others who came in in 5th place.Hence the title of the thread, Is he on Prozac? Keep Smilin AJ |

I see two sides to Alesi, the running out of fuel at Australian GP Alesi , and the absolute 110% racer (a title I only give to him, JMP and TGF).
Should he be in a better car - certainly, but a Williams Valve, Hmmm, a little optimistic I think. It does make me think though. How well would he be going in a Sauber now? |

The very fact that Alesi hasn't made his mark on F1 shows you that emotion has no place.
And emotion? Was the horrible remark that Montoya made to JV emotion enough for you? |

Come on Total-F1, surely drivers don't all have to be idiots.
Total, I bet you're the kind of fella who reckons Mika is a real wild, party hard sorta dude. |

Oi! What's this I hear about Mika?
He *is* a party animal (probably only whilst Erja's not about) (check out that mullet hair-do...how can you have hair like that and not be the life of the party? ) Two thumbs fresh! Last edited by mjstallard; 12 Jun 2001 at 15:21. |
