I was just about to start a thread for this weekend Dani! Surprisingly there wasn't one. Anyway, there were some fantastic pictures from the superpole session. Why does a bike been backed into a corner make me get all excited!

Kiyo sideways antics were simply magic!

Well, the first superbike race was a bit messy:

12.05 55 Laconi Crashed - Rider OK - Re-Joined
12.05 23 Kiyonari Crashed - Rider OK - Post.9
12.05 No Jump Start
12.06 35 Crutchlow Entered Pits
12.06 54 Sofuoglu Crashed - Rider OK - Post.9
12.07 55 Laconi Entered Pits
12.09 50 Lynn Technical Problem - Post.9
12.10 22 Morelli Crashed - Rider OK - Post.15
12.12 9 Walker Technical Problem - Post.2
12.12 76 Neukirchner Crashed - Rider OK - Post.15
12.14 7 Checa Crashed - Rider OK - Post.19
12.14 194 Gimbert Crashed - Rider OK - Post.19
12.14 7 Checa Re-joined
12.14 55 Laconi Entered Pits
12.16 41 Haga Stop - Technical Problem
12.18 41 Haga Entered Pits
12.18 11 Corser Crashed
12.19 100 Tamada Crashed
12.19 RED FLAG

The restart was shall we say interesting, some interesting rules I certainly wasn't aware of meant several riders couldn't restart. Xaus was probably the oddest - he did not return to the pits on his bike within 5 minutes therefore was not allowed to start (according to the commentators anyway) despite running when the race was red flagged.

Rotten luck for Sykes and Haslam with the flag confusion. It might be time to standardise these warnings as much as possible. Tom probably lost race 1 as a result, and Haslam wouldn't've been in range for Rolfo to harpoon him. Today felt just like the old days of the British Championship regulars taking on the world (admittedly with the benefit of having ridden the bikes on the circuit before), and it was a great spectacle. A shame the race 1 restart lost so many riders for questionable reasons though.

Fantastic ride for Brookes in Supersport as well, even if Pitt was probably thinking more about the championship in the last few laps.

From the official website:

GMB Racing, entered in the Superbike World Championship under the name of Team Sterilgarda Go Eleven, wishes to apologize to FGSport and all fans for the untimely reaction of its rider, Ruben Xaus, due to a misunderstanding following the awarding of the podium after the end of WSBK race 1 at Donington on Sunday.

Marco Borciani (Team Manager) declared: "We are very sorry about the behaviour of Ruben in the podium area, and we also wish to apologize to our rider, Max Biaggi, for the words expressed to him by his team-mate. We fully understand Xaus's heated reaction, because at the time it may have seemed that injustice had been done towards him, due to a clause in the regulations. The matter has now been cleared up and put behind us by both the team and its two riders".

Oh dear Rubens, never say anthing in the heat of the moment, you will only regret it. Walk away!
