Button to McLaren?
I got this from the BBC's website and should prove interesting.

I doubt it. Probably just a bargaining tool for Button with Brawn.

Big mistake for Jenson imo.
1) Because the team is centered around Lewis 2) McLaren may lose their Mercades supply in a season or two and they'll have to start again with their new engine partner. |

Is the team really that centred around Lewis, especially with Ron gone?
I don't think we really know yet. Alonso acted the ****** and Kovi has just been plain woeful to tell. If Button is a match for Lewis (and I have my doubts) then a move to McLaren would be a sound thing. I see him staying put though. |

Would be a good move for Button. In the long run Mclaren will be a better bet at being successful than Brawn. Can't see it happening though.

I think out of the trap next season McLaren will have the edge, and I'd like to see Button & Lewis in the same machine, I also think they'd get along off the track and fight tooth & nail on it. .. The only downside is a garage full of proud dads..

Maybe they'd start fighting like dads at kids sports games?

Rubens is Jenson's biggest obsticle to staying and if the rumours are right and he goes to Williams, then Jenson will definitely stay with Brawn.

McLaren refuse to be drawn on the issue at present. Whitmarsh purely says they are talking to a number of drivers. He also doesn't deny the rumour though.

Button's manager is unhappy that JBs contract wasn't sorted out weeks ago.

Anthony Hamilton who runs McLaren would not allow it.

I don't think this would work well, as far as I know Jenson and Lewis require completely different characteristics from the car so the car could never be designed for both of them.

The funny thing is you could argue that signing Button covers both bases - he's both a world champion and unlikely to challenge Lewis. A dream if they can get him to sign

Sorry to be thick but how does that stop Button challenging Lewis? Unless it's Lewis who has to do the challenging to wrest the title off Button and therefore the onus is on Lewis.

I said in another thread that I'd rather put my money on Button winning in a car that has a 160Kgs of fuel onboard, and I see no reason to change my mind about that.

The point seems to be that Barrichello now seems to have the opportunity to stay at Brawn if Button leaves to go to McLaren. Both of these things seem to be rumours started by news sources trying to put two and two together and coming up with five.

Maybe I wasn't clear enough. I conjectured that "Rubens is Jenson's biggest obstacle to staying and if the rumours are right and he goes to Williams, then Jenson will definitely stay with Brawn."
to which Marbot replied, "I would say that Jenson is Ruben's biggest obstacle to staying with Brawn." I therefore agreed with Marbot's point and said "Yes, there is that as well. In either case who then fills the vacant seat at Brawn?" as it has not been confirmed Rubens is leaving Brawn for Williams any more than it has been confirmed Button is leaving for McLaren. So if either or both leave Brawn, who is going to fill the vacant seat/s? |

Uhn... yeah, yeah... that seems to be the case but for all the speculation, one point is that initially Brawn is not interested in keeping RB therefore his deal with Williams.

Well that's the nature of speculation. As for Rubens going to Williams, that's not a done deal, so more speculation as we all wait for the outcome. Don't you just love the silly season?
