Mclaren to buy BMW engine division?
A new rumour is that Mclaren wants to be independant from Mercedes next year and want to buy the BMW F1 engine division:
http://en.f1-live.com/f1/en/headline...03110722.shtml that would fit into Mclarens plans to build more road cars(without Mercedes) . |

And it would also fit the rumour that Mercedes-Benz wants to buy a stock in Brawn.

That one's been going around for a while, it sounds somewhat true. It depends why they made that decision, if it's because of McLaren's road car programme it might be reasonable but it might be somewhat short-sighted if they think Brawn are going to continue to dominate. I hope they have a strong future, as I feel sure they will have but they won't have the same physical resources as McLaren. I guess it will make them secure as they won't be reliant on the Honda dowry, I just hope that they let Ross be Ross (and keep the cars largely in the white, lime and black please ).

they are tied until 2012 unless both parties agree a contract buy-out. I cant see that, despite the unhappiness at each other.

I can't imagine them going for all red for Vodafone because that would make them look too similar to Ferrari. Maybe they could go to the old McLaren orange? |

With the increase to the F1 entry list they probably see it as a way to get some extra budget by flogging customer engines.
