Amazing CT/Boss race turnsback the clock to the midnighties BTCC with a difference :'
Stunning day for the CT/BOSS Race today at Oulton Park.
Great to see the 3 new Scoobys, the new Wirral Mafia BMW M3 with enthustiastic Carl trading up from the Civic and putting in a fantastic time considering he had a worn out wheel bearing on the rear, and Craig Davies Imaculate Ex Chris Hodgetts BTCC RS500 on the grid today with an almost full house for regulars, Craig Rainers beautiful MK2 Cossie Turboed powered 450BHP Escort sadly missing off the grid. For qualifying 31 cars went out onto the circuit, when the time sheets came out, a staggering 7 different models of car with a mixture of RWD, FWD and 4WD made up pole to 10th in a mere 1.1 seconds!! Craig Davies was scatching his head, used to being on the DMN podium, found his RS500 in 10th Giving 10 drivers the hope that with a few mods they may have the pace on another day to take an outright victory as they were so close to pole. Never since the heyday of the mid nighties in the BTCC when works Teams were funded by Volvo, BMW, Vauxhall, Nissan, Renault, Peugeot, Ford, Alfa Romeo and Honda have so many different cars qualified within such a margin. Even more gobsmaking is that these top ten cars qualifying within 1.1 secs of each other are from FOUR decades. From the clubs Sunbeam Lotus built in 1979 thru to Pukka BTCC Cars from the 80's, 90's Supertourer then over to the other side of the globe and a streached 7 litre Aussie BTCC car with 700BHP from the 2000's mixed in with the ultra modern ABS/active-yaw/automatically adjusting power split F/R balence diff drive brigade. Great day for the Championship, Craig Davies in the RS500 got up to 4th, comiserations to Andy Rob in the Ford Falcon whose race it should have been today, but went off at 120MPH on the last lap closing on a backmarker too fast and getting 2 wheels on the grass ending up in the tyres, his first season victory long overdue for the time, effort and money he has put into his car this year. Big Contragulations to Keith Butcher in the Ex David Leslie Works Nissan Primera Supertourerfor a fantastic drive today, he just had more pace than me round there and I was not gonna catch him. Next race, Pembrey is Keiths local, so expecting to struggle, nevertheless its 5-2 to me so even if he beats me it would still be 5-4 to me so I'm absolutely estactic to have come out on top of an ex works Supertourer that cost a manufactures millions to develop :'), unfourtunately because of lack of enteries in my class even if I beat Keith at Pembrey he will take the championship as he has other cars in his class I feel a sequentional gearbox coming for next season to jump me up a class to join Keith,(Nissan Supertourer) Neil (Mitsi Evo XIII engined 600BHP Starion that qualified pole and wiring caught fire whilst in 2nd) and Craigs (RS500)in in class B for a straight fight Anyone wishing to join our great friendly club with stricly policed good driving standards, solid rules and any changes discussed with all drivers in detail before, please contact Dennis Basson. our trusty championship co-ordinater, contact details at http://www.csccgb.co.uk/ and also remember the Club has 4 other championships/series to suit any car from an Austin A34 thru to M3's and Sierra Cossies. If Carlsbeg ran racing clubs, the CTCRC would be it :') Official MSA Results Link: http://www.tsl-timing.com/barc/2010/103827.pdf |

I finished my race which was the previous one and sprinted over (well if you have met me maybe sprint is an exageration) to watch the Classic Thunder race, what a site and sound at the start God alone knows how many horses in the entire field were straining at the bit when the pace car pulled away but it was truely awesome!

It was fantastic. Not so good for you Joss but we enjoyed watching Keith coming thru the field and hunting down Andy.

And yes, I was watching from the pits again due to an incompetent wiring loom manufacturer. |

Some incar footage, it took 3 laps and four attempts to finally get by the pole sitting Subaru and imediately went 1.5secs faster
Could have been a lot closer to the Falcon if I hadn't taken so long with my Scooby Snack http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nCQ-ZbxwZYA |

The Scooby really seemed to be early on the brakes......fascinating to see how many people came to grief at Island.....tho I've never used that loopp, always done the Shell international circuit, so maybe its harder than it looks
Good result anyway, Joss. |

Absolute pig that hairpin, totally ruined my day I won't bother with the trip next time if not on the full circuit.

Anything short of the full circuit is pants in my book.
The Fosters Circuit is a joke. Horrible. Utterly horrible. Shell Oils hairpin is one of the best corners in the country, and Foulston's Chicane is great too. |
