GP2 Round 3-4 Monaco
we go from a normal track to a street track. i have the times and days of the races and the 1st race is Friday not Saturday so keep that in mind, time 10.15am on Euro Sport 2. and race two is on a Saturday not a Sunday. and we got something in the TV way again it is the same two headaches of tennis on 1 channel and slow bikes on the other. so the race 2 will be shown on Eurosport 1 at 8.15pm unless tennis gets wet

just found out the lap counts for this weekend (well, Friday & Saturday) races and the pit-stop race has 45 laps and the short race is 36 laps long delays permitting.

I know I was told off for comparing the GP2 times to Hispania from the last round, don't know why really as I find it relevant, they are both Dallara racing cars. But Pastor Maldonado's practice time is 1.2 seconds faster than Senna's HRT, even though Senna did 27 lap in FP1.
And it must be relevant, because Anthony Davidson and David Croft as I write this just mentioned this very same thing, and noted that 6 GP2 drivers were faster in practice, not just Maldonado! |

Fair enough runshaw. It's relevant if you are comparing the performance of one car versus another round a track, but not relevant to the actual GP2 track action as such which is the point of these specific threads.
If anyone really, really feels the need to discuss it then go ahead but i'd rather it was a separate one like 'Circuit by circuit comparisons between F1 and GP2' or something like that? Now then, we must be getting close to knowing the grid for tomorrow by now? |

Typical Maldonado, sets the fastest lap (at the time) then crashes at the first corner...

There was no penalty for Perez - the team were given a fine for failing to tell him to pull over in time.

before anyone asked Valsecchi has a pen for causing an avoidable crash for today's race. (did not see yellow flags for that crashed car of Maldonado and went into the car at turn 1 yesterday, 7th becomes 12th)

it is almost time for race 1 and thank you for giving me the reason for no pen for Perez (i thought it might be the team fault).

The highlight of the race so far is one vd Garde overtaking, Ricci had real strange pit strategy, from top 10 went 20 or smth...

Decent race, real shame Bird and Vietoris weren't in contention through no fault of their own. Perez and Clos are the clear title favourites so far, really strong races from them both.

That was a superbly controlled drive by Sergio ( is 'checo' his nickname, it was on his pitboard?) He's been my fav for the title all along but still a long way to go. Pastor drove a highly untypical measured race as well I thought? Valerio impressed me considering he has apparently crashed out of all his other GP2 visits to Monaco according to Martin Haven!! Shame for Bird, that pit stop really cost him didn't it. Wonder if he could've jumped Bianchi otherwise? Also I suspect Pic will be deeply embarrassed having been beaten by Gonzalez. Little doubt award for stack of the race goes to Chilton, but Tung runs him close!! Much more to discuss folks..... Last edited by chunterer; 14 May 2010 at 14:42. |

I said I hoped Perez would win and he obliged me by doing just that! A good, controlled drive. In answer to the question, yes, his nickname is Checo.
It is Rodolfo Gonzalez's birthday, so he will be pleased to have finished in the top ten at least. Code:

I only watched the 2nd half of the race (I tuned in just before the safetycar went in), was pretty boring after that, the only thing interesting happend was Valsecchi touching the wall.
Good job by Perez, Maldonado and Clos. Looking forward to see what Jerome can do from pole. |
