Changes to UK Flag Signals in 2014

The MSA have just announced significant changes to the "yellow-flag" rules in the UK; implementation Jan 1st 2014. These rule changes make the relevant sections of the 2014 Blue Book obsolete.

Quite apart from the difficulties we Marshals see in implementing the changes (see thread in the marshal's forum); I am interested to know how (if) the MSA has let the competitors know about the changes? Have you had individual emails or just been expected to read about it in the MSA online publications?

Cheers,

Gerry

News to me.

Conscious I'm not as up to speed on the blue book as I used to be, and planning on getting back into racing 2014 I did read the last magazine and rule changes; didn't read anything there about it..

Will have a look at the Marshall's thread.

SWCRacing has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
This all went through the consultation process months ago and has been discussed to death on other parts of this forum.
All that was announced recently was the amendment to the already published Blue Book to take into account the ratified change

I only knew because of what's on here, the proposed rule changes were sent to us earlier in the year but who reads them? It's also on the MSA news, who reads that? It's no different to what at least one club I've raced with this year has used even though they weren't supposed to do it.

"Drivers are to be requested to assist marshals by acknowledging the new system of yellow flag signals.

If one yellow flag is seen, acknowledge this by raising a single digit to the marshals' post. Should you see two waved yellow flags, then wave two fingers at the marshals.

Marshals will confirm your acknowledgement of their flag signals by making a variety of hand signals of their own."

Tim, it was in the white pages at the back of the mag ages ago and discussed here and elsewhere. You can't really blame the MSA if they publish the info in a format that you definitely receive but you don't read it

Re the club using the flags already. That's disgraceful. What on earth is the point of having a NATIONAL set of rules if someone makes up their own at local level? The whole point of racing with the MSA is so that you have consistency of regulations and can race anywhere. *Sigh*
