I think, it is good mixture. A lot of countries involved.
But why no Italians? Are they not interested? |

Good mix indeed.
Don't know about the Italians. What budget is required to race in this arrive-and-drive series? |

That's a pretty young grid.

The final line-up will have had to be agreed by Audi. Perhaps no-one who fits with the marketing strategy? With as many applications as they had, they can afford to be picky.

Should have built and homologated these cars to GT4 spec, and built some for private sale.

There is or was a TT GT4 version. IIRC it never was used in a GT4 series. Maybe in VLN or N24.

The last gen VLN and GT4 cars ( although erroneously the VLN car was described as a DTM car, but that's some journalists for you):

I am not sure, if such a series can lead to a real racing career. Maybe you only may get your name more famous, so you can step up to Porsche Carrera Cup or Supercup (if you have budget). But not really as a paid driver.

Well, Kelvin van der Linde graduated from the Scirocco-Cup and became ADAC GT-Masters champ last year. With his former co-pilot Rene Rast being promoted to Audi's LMP1 program, Kelvin is now (one of) the (two) the lead driver(s) of the Christian Abt team, which is just about the most professional racing team in Germany this side of DTM... doesn't necessarily mean he isn't paying to drive anymore, but there are paid drives in GT-racing and if he can show that his title wasn't solely won on the shoulders of Mr.Rast he might just get there. And as Maxi Götz and Maxime Martine have shown, the GT customer programs can even be a spring board into DTM.
