Wild Dog should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Wild Dog's tracks

I have now made my very first track in Sketch Up.

The pit aren't too good. And some of the turns aren't too.

How do I save as png or jpg or something??

Edit: Found out.

Just made one more track. Feel this is better.

Just some questions

1. How to make elevation?

2. How do I know how long it is?

3. How to make bridges over the track?

Best to walk before you start to run... A few of immediate things to think about.

You have the correct idea about the pitlane, though it usually isn't the same with as the rest of the track. The pit entry/exit are usually not much more than a car width, the pit area in front of the garages, is usually the pit entry width, an safety area (the painted advertising strip) and then the pit entry width or a bit more where the actual pitstops take place.

Try to have the curves/arcs flow from one another, Track 1 where you included the file, you can see that they are individual curves placed next to one another, they don't really join up.
The second circuit looks better in this regard but there are still a few areas that could do with work.

The gravel traps, if one corner has one, why hasn't the next?
Look at some real world circuits for the shape and the general size of the gravel traps.

Define the shpae of the track area, (where the walls would be), no need to actually add wals at this stage, but outline and change the colour perhaps, it really makes difference. A personal rule of thumb, I don't know of an official one, is that no wall should be closer to the track than half a track width.

The tutorial thread has dimension instructions here

After more than 4 and a half years away from track making I'm back. This time not with Sketch-Up, but with GIMP.

As a start I tried to create the Global Rallycross track in Las Vegas 2013.

I know it's not totally perfect, but I think it's quite okay. Any comments/suggestions?

I have no understanding of rally cross but it looks short. 5 corners, only one dirt.

It's short indeed. I can't quite remember the length but probably less than 1 km. And it's a temporary circuit which is why there's so little dirt.

The only reason I made the Las Vegas track was because it was easy and simple, as I wanted to start out slowly on my first attempt at track making in GIMP.

My first original rallycross track design. This time featuring more dirt, more turns, elevation changes, a table-top jump and a water splash.

I've tried to make it feel a little stadium-like by putting grandstands around it.

What do you guys think?

Ever wondered how rallycross would be like on snow? Well, this circuit gives the chance to find out.

Yesterday I watched the Red Bull Frozen Rush from earlier this year, and it inspired me to create this track. It can be used for both rallycross and other off-road vehicles.
