Is it me or has Mikka Hakinnen looked increasingly lacklustre recently? This weekend was a prime example: never really "on it" in his usual way in qualifying and a mysteriously intermittent 2brake problem" in the race. Caught behind his old adversary Mikka Salo he appeared to breeze up to the back of the Sauber and then make almost no attempt to pass it. It was as if he couldn't really be bothered. Sure, he made a couple of stabs (eventually), but then had to back off again.
This is just one example of several recently (including his increasingly edgy and non-communicative interviews) which has seen him appear to be thoroughly fed up. DC's taken the initiative and, whilst I've verbally castrated him in the past, has actually performed really well the past couple of races. Is MH about to retire? He's already double WDC, so what's the motivation? Rubinho proved today that you can drive fairly unspectaculary all weekend and still get a result. MH latley has proved he can drive fairly unspectacularly. On a seperate bent: HHF YOU ARE A PLONKER. Thank you. |

We are taking applications for the privilege of drowning Frenzy. WAKE UP YOU IDIOT THIS IS NOT A MOVIE! Ten quid right down the sink. Feh.
I notice that Ron Dennis is putting out some horseradish about a mysterious gearbox gremlin that prevented Mother's Darling from passing Salo for any extra points. I am going to file that one right beside the bushwah about TGF's suspension being cooked by an exhaust pipe. SUUUUUURE you didn't hit an armco, Mein Herr. Gettenz zie ein clue. |

Liz, thanks for the chuckle.
7 races down and the only driver who is performing to pre-season hype is TGF. HHF has had a dismal run, and makes a mistake that seemed far beneath his abilities. The Jags are krrapp. Rubens has been a huge dissappointment-without attrition, he would have been lucky to get sixth. Mika's getting more and more indifferent. Tristan is absolutely right- deny that you will retire Mika, you look pretty played out to me. I'd rather you went with a bit of grace and dignity and not windging your way to a life of liesure. The only drivers who have made any strong impression are Ralfie, and Fisi. And given that BMW was supposed to have a bad year and Bennetton were on their way to the back- its made Jag and Jordan's seasons look that much worse. That's a point: it could be some kinda superstition thing. TGF changes his helmet, the Ferrari fails to finish for the first time, like, EVER! Mika gets his hair cut, he starts acting wierd. Don't tell me Liz, aliens right?

Frentzen: The public flogging commences shortly...
Just WHAT THE HELL was HHF playing at??? Geez. At least Gaston can make it a head-on collision...
Mika Hakkinen has gone down the pan this season, HHF has been disappointing, as has Trulli. The second Ferrari seat looks to be wasted with Rubens in it. Even Ralf seems a little lacklustre. Impressive this season: Salo, Alesi (at Monaco anyway...), TGF, Mazzacane, De La Rosa. |

The Devil Made Them Do It.
I think Frenzy went to sleep. Trulli ran a good race until his car broke. It was not his fault the car was slower than service at Benihana. |
