Montoya to NASCAR?
The 3 week "break period" for F1 has only just started but already it's thrown up some "quiet news days!" and here's one i found on www.f1-live.com which suggests that JPM and Jeff Gordan are going to swap cars for the day!
Juan Pablo Montoya is expected to try his hand at the American racing series, NASCAR, when he takes to the wheel of Jeff Gordon's number 24 Dupont on the 12th of August. Meanwhile, Gordon, the youngest ever in the modern era of NASCAR history to win the Winston Cup back in 1995, will take to the BMW Williams F1. Partly sponsored by BMW, Juan Pablo will return to the scene of the Brickyard's oval layout, where he won the Indy 500 back in the year 2000, while Gordon will lap the infield created for the Formula One series. |

Hehe... I hope Sir Frank's not expecting to get that Williams back...
Who else thinks Montoya'll beat pole for the Brickyard 400? |

Jeff's face into turn one:
It will be fun to watch <and no, Montoya wouldnt lap at pole speed in Jeff's Cup car, but neither will Jeff turn heads in the Williams...>. The way I see it, they need 2 of each car so we can see some racing |

Bernie Eccelstone has often said that he would love to see Gordon in and F1 car.

Oh dear. I hope Montoya (or Gordon for that matter) doesn't go and injure himself. In an unfamiliar car, on an oval circuit...
You may or may not have heard of Espen Bredesen (Norwegian ski jumper, World and Olympic Champion). He was not injured while ski jumping, but rather while doing gymnastics and playing soccer... Does sir Frank really permit this? What about Montoya's insurance? |

Montoya has enough skill (maybe not the brains though..) to throw the stock car in the wall.
While I'm sure the thought of getting the car to turn right will be a real shock for Gordon, I don't see him destroying the Williams either. |

I'm more worried about Montoya as those NASCARs are a lot less safe than an F1.

I personally dont think driving an F1 car is the most difficult job in the world. It is certainly not the most physically demanding. The most difficult thing would be getting used to the grip levels and braking which has a lot to do with grip too. Now being able to get above the rest takes something special. However, I do not feel that the difference between MS and someone like Alex Yoong are worlds apart. I am sure Yoong has good reflexes, maybe better than the older Schumi. What makes MS and JPM exceptional is their controlled agression.
Jeff Gordon IMO is wasting his talents in NASCRAP. He has talent beyond turning left. JPM has raced ovals before so I am sure he knows the ropes. |

come on, nothing will happen... Dangerous accident in NASCAR are usually car-against-car, not really car-against wall..
And if something happens to Juan, hopefully he'll be allright for next year |

Gordan came up[ through the ranks of Single Seat Road Racing in the Staes and he is consistently one of the best Road Racers in NASCAR. Saying he is wasting his talent, strikes me as a bit chauvanistic-though I would like to see him in F1,the day may have passed in which it will be meaningful.
