Chris Stockdale should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
First Car

I have just done what every young man Wishes i have past my driving lessons and as a present my family have all chipped in and raised £3.000 pounds to buy a car. There is only one problem. I DONT KNOW WHERE TO START LOOKING i am tempted to go for a real sporty number but the insurance would cripple me any idea's

depends on what you like, and what you want to do with the car. i would recommend a pug 306 they are economical cheap to run and the insurance groups on all models are very reasonable, except the gti model. cheap tax on a 1.4 too. apart from that there fiestas or corsas or other simaler cars, all good 1st cars

Something cheap and chearfull until you get a good no-claims bonus built up, wait a few years before you get something interesting!

Have a look in your local paper, Auto Trader etc. For £3k you should be able to get a damn good car, prob 4-5 years old.

I would avoid your "big" dealers. They just have cars at rip off prices, and 0% finance deals etc have to be looked at in more detail - you'll usually find you can get a car cheaper walking in with cash - like you'll be able to do.

For car choices, what about a Volvo. They are cheap for insurance in comparison to some other types of car with the same size engine. Or maybe a Fiesta. You can mod it to hell!
