What's with HD TV's coverage?
What a bonehead move on CART's part!! They have effectively squeezed out the large body of would-be TV viewers from watching this weekend's race. In the U.S., they have limited the viewing only to those select few who own High-Definition TVs, or to those willing to hunt down a sports bar that might be showing it- slim to no chance. Is Mr. Pook on crack or what? Is this novelty his idea of how to build and maintain interest in a wobbling OW series? Time for a reality check, Chris!

They really didn't have any other choice, it seems.
But take solace in the fact that you're all invited to my place on Sunday to watch it on TSN. BYOB, and seating is first-come, first-served. |

When the Elkhart Lake race was cancelled earlier in the season, Speed TV shuffled their schedule. When Mario Andretti got the race back on the schedule, Speed TV was not willing to make room for the race again. CART needed to find somewhere to put the race on TV, and it looks like HDNet was their only option.

Is the HDTV broadcast the reason I currently have a letterboxed image on Eurosport? Or is it just my local Eurosport feed being ****ed up (as becoming the norm it seems) again?

Well, I actually had a sports bar within 15 minutes of our apartment and the picture was fantastic, the "race" however is well...(insert appropriate insult here).
Gentilozzi wanted to go racing, saying that Tracy and others were crybabies or something like that. Sebastien wanted to race, then 10 minutes later Carl Haas said it would be silly because of the possible equipment damage. I think they should have started the race under yellow without the pace car, the cars would have sucked up most of the water within a few laps. I've seen a lot worse rain in racing. On a side note. The Tampa crowd was about 50+ maybe more, it would have been great if the race would have been started. |

HDTV is, from what I know, only available in the US, so I reckon the letterboxed broadcast was some sort of "as-good-as-it-gets" solution for us international viewers. |

Eurosport never showed the race I was dedicated and stayed up right until Eurosport closed but then I've not got to go to work or anything. Hope this week they can fit it into there schedule rather thans howing IRL three times or something daft like that. Don't forget to email eurosport asking for it :-)

They'll probably show a couple of minute's worth of CART @ Road America in the Drive News program on Friday.
The Mid-Ohio race is supposed to be shown on Sunday - remains to be seen if we actually get a proper live race broadcast this time around or if they miss out due to the weather for a third straight time (the Vancouver broadcast was cut off due to a massive thunderstorm messing with the international uplink). |
