Coulthard: Best of the Brits today
David Coulthard was the only brit to stay well within 1 second of his team mate.
Is there something in this circuit which makes the british drivers look slower than they really are? |

Its a rubbish circuit! I suppose there is always the "on different fuel strategies" excuse. Tomorrow is more important, etc. etc.

What is going on with DC? He seems to have lost his edge.
He should be either ahead of KR or immediately behind. |

Coulthard weas in the spare and didn't have the setup quite right in the limited time they get. That would be the only excuse he needed, except for the fact that he was in teh spare because he trashed the race car.
Nope, pretty poor efforts form all the British drivers this time. Jenson's setup was obviously poor, and Fisichella was too good for Firman. In fact, I think teh 4 biggest team-mate time gaps are all with british drivers on the wrong end of them, which is embarassing. |

I dont think DC is on a heavier fuel load than Kimi. The reason for his poor performance is that he had to jump in the spare car for qualifying and probably the car was not setup right.

That really wasn't DC bashing - I'm an admirer of his but I can tell you quite easily that DC isn't driving with a full set of spanners in his toolbox and he has been making a plethora of reasons to try and excuse himself.
How many times has he finished qualifying and said "I could have gone faster" or "there was more speed in the car" - well where was it hiding? Look at Mark Webber's attitude - no excuses, if he makes a mistake he admits to it. Honest, respectable. DC does need to do a little less thinking and a little more driving. |

I agree, DC's got to stop thinking of excuses & get down to the business of getting near his team mate.

Another DC vs Kimi conversation
DC is probably the best English/Scotish driver in F1 but he has been over done by Raikkonen |

if u watched the qualifying live perhaps u observed the look that haug gave to whitmarish when d.c had finished his qualifying run. it was without a doubt a look of pure disgust. that look alone has left me without any doubts that d.c.'s seat at mclaren will definately be up for grabs at the end of this season.
p.s. i'm curious as to whether anyone else here saw the aforementioned look. |

I feel sorry for DC. At this point he is in a rut. When all is weel in his head, he can go as fast as anyone. But when his teammate gets the better of him, he seems to go backwards.
Gat it together and fast Davis, or it's off to a lesser team next year. |

Being best of himself, Firman, Wilson and Button is nothing to shout about, considering the other three are in nothing cars!

Don't you mean British when he wins Scottish when he loses. Anyway I don't think that is true. They do call him brave a lot, but that is about it.

Well, DC's a Scottish Brit. and I'm an English Brit who says that DC was the best Brit today with a fine drive. He's always a Brit to me and I think notwithstanding all the stick he gets, particularly on this site, he's been one of our best drivers for a decade.
