Despite securing customer Ferrari power for next year, the French cigarette company will no longer sponsor Prost GP according to Autosport. This could be a big blow for the team if they cannot secure another main sponsor.

Another main sponsor could be Telefonica. It's rumoured Marc Gene will drive for Prost next year and he might take the Telefonica sponsorship with him.
Another rumour is about Interbrew, a global brewing giant. These rumours were fuelled by the presence of a member of the family who controls the company at both the Italian and the US GP, deep in discussion with team boss Alain Prost.
It's not sure whether Interbrew was talking about taking a share in Team Prost or just sponsoring.

What brands do Interbrew market ?

It must be a large International brand for F1 to have any impact. Bud & Fosters already has a deal with CART & circuits which probably only leaves Carlsberg, and Heineken. Must of the others are mainly limited to smaller markets.

Vector Motorsport's bid for the acquisition of the Prost team has ended. So the team is not yet sold.

Interbrew are a Belgian company of which Labatt is a part of.
Most known brands are Stella Artois, Jupiler and Hoegaarden, typical Belgian beers.
Labatt Blue is another of their brands.
Interbrew have companies in 14 countries, Belgium, The Netherlands, Canada, Hungary, China, Mexico to name a few.
If it's sponsorship for the Prost team they are talking about I think Stella Artois or Labatt could replace Gauloises next year.

I get nostalgic about the dumbest things. I LOVED the Gitanes' gypsy on the side of those tall Ligier Airboxes-so continental, so chic.

Then later Gauloises, shades of Sartre and Camus, Edith Piaf and Pernod. Its a sad passing, anyone got a light?

Well, with tobacco sponsorship soon to be history anyway, perhaps it was inevitable. Alain is bravely saying he saw it coming and it was not a surprise, so I hope he has something lined up. Interbrew is selling their interest in the Toronto Blue Jays, so perhaps they will buy into Prost. OTOH, perhaps they were a part of the Canadian group that had been planning to buy Prost out?

I hope he has some luck landing somebody to sponsor his cars next year. Poor Alain. It's time he had some GOOD luck.
