Castle Combe GT Championship Status

Does anyone know if the castle combe GT championship managed to retain its championship status license ?

There was a lot of talk about it having its championship status revoked due to the lack of numbers, the last race was a lot better after they opened it up.

Does anyone know whats going on with this. It would be a shame to see it go.

The Combe GT championship used to be enjoyable but this year I was getting a bit fed up of watching 10 or 12 cars drone round for 12 laps (more than the FF1600s and the saloons.....)

Watching the Jades trying to beat the lap record on the 2nd lap of every race got a bit dull and predictable.

Only at the Carnival meeting was there a decent grid and that's how it should be - Jades, Radicals, Prosport 3000s mixing it up with an ex-BTCC Cavalier and the spectacular Silhouette Audi and Corrados.

If, over the winter they can encourage more cars and drivers out, to get a core grid of 20 or so I'd be happy - but if it's struggling to get in to double figures again next year they may as well bin it.

What about all the other poorly supported series.
Have the decisions to revoke Championship Status for those without the necessary financial clout been made yet?
If so, where are the binned championships listed?

Steve Burns should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
The Castle Combe Special GT Championship has retained its championship status for 2004, and will continue.

The final round in October was excellent, due mainly to the inclusion of an all-comers Open Saloon, Sports and GT race on the same program for which I invited a number of drivers to compete. It is hoped that a similar format will be adopted for next year to ensure regular good grids.

Yes that is good news it would have been a shame to have Castle Combe without the GTs.

Hopefully Steve's initiative will get more cars on the grid and someone to challenge those rapid Jades!
