The testing thread
I'm starting this thread to avoid the usual suspects coming in with their "its only testing" and "testing is meaningless" comments.
Today saw a pretty good debut for Fisi on the Sauber, having completed 98 laps at Montmelo. Massa was also there, and had the second fastest time, but he was driving a Ferrari. The BARS were slow and unreliable (surprise surprise) The Williams went 1-2-3 in Valencia, with the new McLaren (driven by Coulthard - 8th) also looking pretty good. Lets hope it passes the crash test |

I think he will do 2004 for them, but what I meant was, if there remains any chance that he'll be let go to McLaren before Melbourne they may decide that he doesn't get to test the FW26 early next year.

All this speculation about what JPM will and won't get to do seems silly. Williams has to believe they have a better shot at success if both drivers have a good shot to win. Hanicaping one driver would not accomplish this.
When will BAR get those hydrolics right!?! |

No way will Williams handicap one driver! Not what I said or meant. Either he is driving or he is not - if not, they won't want to include him on FW26 secrets pre-season.

McLaren have managed a decent-ish number of laps with new car - so it looks like they may have solved the reliability issues. Nearly 50 yesterday for DC and over 50 today (although Valencia is a very short lap).

Button and the "concept" car were very quick today. To bad we never know how much fuel or what kind of set up they are using in testing. Its tough to decipher some times.

BAR are in the odd situation of testing with the Bridgestone teams, on Michelin tyres! I wasn't sure at first if they would be, but the pictures seem to be Michelins. The concept BAR is going remarkably well considering that it is on a totally different tyre.

Yeah, but they have a chance to compare directly the Michelin and Bridgestone tyres. Well, more or less directly. That's a pretty unique situation.
Mind you, Minardi got the chance with Avon last year... |
