According to the news, Dario and Ashley will wed as soon as the season ends.
Ashley and her family tried very hard to get Dario to leave racing after his accident at Homestead, and now she says she will absolutely not live in Europe, so that would be the end of Dario's F1 hopes, wouldn't it? We saw how successful that was in the Mikey Chronicles. Is it a good idea to marry someone who actively campaigns to derail your career? Is this marriage doomed? |

It involves two celebrities, doesn't it?
The answer is self-evident. |

hahaha... Well, I have always liked Dario, but it is becoming quite obvious who wears the pants in that relationship.

Why would she need to move to Europe anyways? Dario could live in the US & travel to the races. Besides, how often does Ashley Judd stay at her pad anyways? Id she's shooting a movie, she'll be away on the set for months...I think, since both do a lot of traveling in their jobs, it will work out.

Mikey's wife didn't want to leave the USA and Mikey tried to commute, which did not work as he had no time for testing and never got bedded in with the team.
I suppose it is possible to have a successful marriage when you don't actually see each other - I used to say my ideal marriage would be to a man who made a lot of money and never came home - but that sort of arrangement works best if the two people don't like each other much. I think if I loved someone enough to marry him, I'd want to be with him - and the idea of marrying someone and demanding he conform his life to mine just doesn't seem to fit the pattern. I think it's doomed. |

Liz, as usual, that couldn't be said better.
It looks like Dario is at a crossroads both in his private life and his career. |

The biggest problem with careers in Hollywood or in a major racing series is that it consumes too much of your life.
Spouses and fiancees of racers are usually relegated to watching from the sidelines wringing their hands in worry. Unless they have been long time race fans they will ever understand why the drivers do what they do. The life of a racer/gypsy is long hours away from home and is cloaked with the chance of injury. Only a person raised in the racing arena could understand the extreme pressure this would exert on a relationship. The same goes for the lives of Hollywwod stars. It never ends. Personally, they cannot be truly in love with each other and still hold reservations. To be in love is encompassing and makes you willing to sacrifice all to be with that person. |

If he won't quit racing and she won't give up her career, how is she going to feel if he's in Hungary in a life threatening accident and she's refused to travel with him because she's got a cocktail party with high rollers in Malibu? Maybe it wouldn't bother her but it would sure bother me.
On the other hand, Zanardi says his main reason for moving to Europe was his wife and child, and that he wouldn't come back to the United States to race because they were unhappy here. So they worked it out. Maybe these two can work it out too. |

Maybe the onus shouldn't only be on her.
If Dario goes off to Hungary and gets into a life-threatening accident while she stays behind to schmooze the high-rollers . . . well -- tough luck . . . but it was his choice, right? |

That's easy to say in the abstract. And yes, it would be her choice - if she can live with it, good for her. I just don't think I could wake up every morning knowing that I'd chosen a cocktail party over my husband.
But then I probably won't have that choice to make. |

And I'll never have to wrestle with leaving Ms. Judd behind at the station . . .
But isn't fair to turn this around? Is it any more admirable -- or less selfish -- to choose a career which daily puts a husband on the knife edge of death and the permanent abandonment of his wife? |

He's already got his career. She knew that when she agreed to marry him. Or do you think men should give up their careers for their wives? What a concept.

i do believe ashley wears the trousers in that relationship. he seems a bit of a wimp, the sort who would give up their careers for their missus. let's face it, he's not going to go short if he does, is he?

if she really cant't deal with his professional life,
and they are going to get married. one must assume dario is going to retire from racing or the marriage plans are a gossip page rumor. |

They're both awfully young anyway. What's the rush to the altar? Maybe they should wait until they get some of the major decisions sorted out ---
What am I saying???? When did anyone ever find out they had nothing in common but sex BEFORE they got married? |

Of course I'm suggesting that men can, if they choose, give up their careers for their wives.

Well, here's an interesting development.
I have voiced similar sentiments on the Seventh Gear forum and have been contacted by someone who would like me to believe he or she or it or they is or are Dario - who says that none of this is true and I am to take the word of someone who won't give his or her name or say where the information came from, but the way this person writes, I'm inclined to believe that it's someone who at least knows Dario as well as I know Gil. So for the record, I hereby state that the above re Mr. and Mrs. Judd was something I read in the Toronto Sun, and that either it's true or it isn't, but He Who May Be Dario says it isn't. Do you ever wonder if life is getting more like the movies or the other way around? |

True or not I would have thought it was a hyperthetical. There isn't a job in F1 as yet. I doubt there ever will be.

I'm confused
You guys have me all confused. Where is Dario going to in Europe? I mean, is he supposed to be test driver for Frank or something?? And I thought Ashley is interested in the Thorpedoe!! He certainly is impressed with her, and he is super fast. Just look at those feet!!
