remaining seats
It seems that Heidfeld is hot for one of the remaining seats with Jordan. Will he get it? And who will get the other one? Personally I’m putting my money on McNish (on B&H request) and Verstappen (with Trust money), with Allan being the nice guy and Jos being the faster racer.

[quote] Verstappen isn't really good enough. [\quote]That's your opinion, I disagree. But even if you're right, someone has to pay the bills.

Who wants Jos these days? I'd be going for Nick Heidfeld, provided you get customer Mercs out of it - and then a pay driver...

If Trust really insists on having a Dutchman as first driver, I don't think Jordan will sign Heidfeld and Verstappen.
So I would guess Jordan will take - either Heidfeld plus a driver with a lot of sponsor money - or Verstappen plus a young talented driver with a decent amount of sponsor money. In the first case, the second driver should bring enough money to let Heidfeld have a good car. And Heidfeld should be bringing results. In the second case, both drivers should bing enough money to let both drivers have decent cars. Verstappen should score some points, and the young driver should learn a lot from Verstappen. On the other hand, if they can find a young, talented driver with a lot of sponsor money, the choice will be obvious ... |

If there was any justice in the world, Heidfeld would get the seat as he is EASILY more talented than any other driver hoping to get the seat.
But since EJ needs dollars more than a talented driver, he'll most likely have to lump for Verstappen simply because he comes with serious backing. |

I hope it's Heidfeld and McNish, but I have my doubts. I also can't agree that Verstappen is "the faster racer" than Nishie; whatever promise Jos may have had, he's been a let-down in recent years (Bernoldi was matching him at Arrows!), and Nishie, by contrast, is fast, smooth, experienced, and has worked with Toyota and Renault, so knows a thing or two about developing a car.

Never met either of them, but that's the impression I get.

I keep thinking of a quote from Frentzen a few months ago... He was saying that it was more important to him that Heidfeld stays in F1 than Frentzen himself, because Nick's younger and Heinz-Harald has already had his chances. It'd really disappoint me to see Jos get the seat when they could sign Nick + McNish or Firman and survive with the same budget they had for 2003. The teams dignity is at stake

Get Heidfeld in on a three year contract with an option on subsidised merc units for 2005 and -6, and give the second seat to Firman, Davidson or whoever will keep B&H happy and snatch the odd point along the way.
It's a shame about Jos, but tbh, he didn't look quite the driver he has been last season. Might be better off taking a leaf out of Herbert's and Frentzen's books and getting something in the DTM or sports cars. |

For me, the best driver lineup would be Heidfeld and McNish, but that's just my opinion. If Jos brings the money, he still can do a fine job.

Agree wholeheartedly with the first half of Jordi's post. I also agree that Frentzen's remarks on Heidfeld demonstrate a grace and magnanimity all too rare in F1 these days. Prior to this year, I didn't think I'd especially miss HHF. But, having watched and listened to him this year, I rather think I will.
Dangerously off-topic. Sorry. But then, live with it. |

Do Wilson and Firman have any chance?

As far as I know, Justin Wilson has gone on the record as saying he has had no contact with Eddie Jordan. Ralph Firman, as the incumbent, must at least be considered a possibility, though, while he has performed reasonably well under difficult circumstances this year, he's hardly set the world on fire. So I think he's an outsider.

As for Wilson, I think we have to face up to the fact that:
a) He did'nt perform at a level that made the other bosses go wow! b) He does'nt have the cash that Verstappen and co have to make up for the above shortcoming like the others |

I think McNish did a sterling job for Renault this year. His time with Toyota was not the best demonstration of his skills, but then it was hardly a conducive environment, was it? I'd have thought that a driver who can destroy an entire field, like McNish did at Sears Point in the Audi R8 in (?) 2000, deserves a decent shot at F1. But then, 'tis only my opinion.

Hows about a 3some, Jos and Nick and Alan for the 3 cars each Friday, with Alan assuming that role, and keeping B&H onside, while Nick stays on talent, Jos on his relationship with Trust..
Win-win-win... well the commercial relationships anyway, not the cars |

I think the verstappen will be good for the seat at jordan because when he has a good team mate it will make him push harder
