Possible Cheever announcment - Jan 26th?
Heard a rumour that Team Cheever will be making an anoucment on January 26th. Could this be about a second driver? Ed Carpenter and Sarah Fisher are the most lilkey candidates. Maybe Eddie himself will be making a comeback? Gotta love the silly season

CART's getting so cheap (9c/share), maybe Davey Hamilton could buy it and add it to his Supermodified and Late Model groups.

Speaking of Eddie Cheever...
Do you think that his nephew, Richard Antinucci, will be driving in the IRL anytime soon? He's doing quite well in the F3 series, and has his eye on going to F1, which is good, but the chances are somewhat slim. Do you think Antinucci would come to the IRL, if his F1 bid fails? |

At least Ed spent time at the local bullrings in 410 Sprints, so he has SOME fan connection (like Sarah)

I'm not sure you need to be sprint car racer to have a fan connection in the IRL.
But by your forum name, dirtfan, I guess thats important to you! |

It's offical. Congrats to Ed Carpenter That report says Ed will be in the #51 car. This of course is traditionaly Eddie Cheever's number, so it looks like Eddie will indeed stay retired. |

It doesn't have to be sprints, it's just that there are no major Saturday night road race series among the 1100 or so race tracks in the US (that I know of). No local series, no standing around in the pits after the show talking to fans, no local fans-no following.

Guys like Sam, Helio and Scott seem to have pretty big followings in the US - bigger than Ed will have unless he becomes a frontrunner. Sarah's large following is for two very good reasons - her left breast and her right breast (can I say that?)
I wasn't aware that Antinnuci is related to Cheever - you learn something every day. Like most drivers aiming for F1, he might consider IRL if that's all he gets offered, but CART might suit his aims more in the short term, as drivers go from CART to F1. |

It's Danika who does the Cheesecake spreads.
Sarah was well known to Kart racers and readers of Chris Economaki's Speed Sport News long before her IRL debut. |
