Pictures of AGT competitors at SCCA National at NHIS
I took some shots of AGT (GT-1) drivers this weekend at New Hampshire International Speedway.
Todd Benne was nice enough to post them on the AGT website. I invite anyone interested in tube frame racing to come check them out!! http://www.americangt.com/gallery/vi...umName=album06 If this link doesnt work, just go to www.americangt.com Click on Photos and pick AGT competitors at Play. |

How do these differ from Trans Am cars? We race a TraNZam class here in NZ - similar to Tran Am, except 6.0L engines allowed and few minor changes - most cars are ex US Trans Am cars.

The article highlighting the first race mentions a "Mazda Mustang". So is there a Mustang-bodied car out there running a rotary?
In the picture of the black 'vette going up the hill, what is the white car? Last edited by sportscarsRULE; 4 May 2004 at 13:03. |

alfasud, the AGT cars are U.S. Trans-Am cars, or a SCCA GT1 car. The AGT has simply created a new place for these cars to race that is more competitor friendly and cost contained.
sportscarsRule, that is a Mustang. The car is sponsored by "John Finger Mazda" a Mazda dealership. |

In the "AGT Drivers at Play" gallery....
A few of those images (including the one with the black Vette and the "white car" referred to above....look like they were shot at a place that has terrain changes.... New Hampshire International is a "Roval," correct??? It doesn't have terrain changes, does it???? Thus my question: Where were those frames shot??? Does anyone know??? |

That may be a bit of an optical illusion Tim? Different camera angle perhaps?

Could be, but it looks like the cars coming out of the corner are heading uphill, unless he held the camera cocked at a 45 degree angle...
Just wondering... |

The course goes outside of the oval, there's an uphill area there. The track goes into a tight turn, which goes down a little and raises back up. Pretty unique roval really...

Here's the track map from the track home page. Hope that helps, Tim. |

Yes, the Road part of this oval goes outside the track instead of inside, as you turn out you go up a pretty steep hill, then down it, around and back up and then back down into the oval...its a pretty neat setup!!
That white car is a ford taurus "stock" car with taillights to make it legal to run in GT-1 races. Those 3 highlighted cars were from AGT running in the GT-1 national event. Amy Ruman was also there with her Dad's vette (Placing 2nd behind Jack Busch). There was also a nice assortment of other corvettes, camaros, a couple of 350Z GT2s and some other nice rides!! And yes, the AGT rules allow GT-1, T/A and former Grand Am AGT cars. Last edited by billnchristy; 4 May 2004 at 17:54. |

Thanks!
From other diagrams of that track, I thought that it might, but Phoenix had a set-up like that many years ago tha they no longer use.... The additional roadways in the infield also were a source of confusion for me... |

Yeah, it is definitely my favorite roval due to the fact it actually has elevation changes. That and they pretty much use the entire oval in addition to the outside road course part.
They didnt use the second chicane section, so once you came out of the "infield" section at turn 4 you were on the oval until the uphill section, which meant the GT-1 cars were going FAST!! |

the AGT site has just added a one lap video of NHIS from the view of Mike Canneys Corvette.
I know there was a lot of discussion about the track layout, now you can see it first hand. http://www.americangt.com/index.php?act=videos great sound too!! Dont forget AGT coming to Mosport for traditional Victoria day race!!! |

Looks like a nicely laid-out little track, although there are a few immovable objects located awfully close to the racing line.
