In my wanderings through threads, I have noticed a curious use of the term TGF for a certain driver that some of us hold less dearer to our hearts than others. Two or three possibilities immediately popped into my head, but I'm curious of how this came to be used by many of you, your versions and how long its been going on.(I know this is a family forum, so I am not expecting details)
In motorcycle dirt-biking, there is a term of using a "berm"- pushed up dirt, like a banked curve-to get around a corner faster. I'm not impressed by certain drivers using other cars as berms, so that should give you an idea of my views of the various TGF/MH/DH/JV/DC "racing incidents" over the years.... |

TGF stands for "That German Fellow" - i.e. Michael Schumacher. Because it is easier to spell. No disrespect intended.
Some people refer to Frenzy as TOGF (That Other German Fellow) and Ralfie as TGFLB (That German Fellow's Little Brother) but this is rare. Other people who like TGF less can substitute other words for the official ones, but That German Fellow is the original meaning. |

Currently there are two drivers with initials MS,
and two with initials JV. To avoid confusion, many of us are typing TGF, MS, JV and Jos. |

Thankyou one and all for the info (and the chuckles)
Please to meet you Liz. My, that was a fast first reply, the Europeans were (hopefully) fast asleep when I posted this, and I see today that you answered in no less than 10 mins! I particularly liked TGFLB and TFG. The God Father and Terrifically Good Fellow-depends on your point of view; but The Great Fandango?you got me there... Things will be clearer re: Mr.Salo and that Dutch individual |

I work 2 jobs back to back and both involve computers, so it seems as if I am always round this place - it's a nice couple of minutes break between sometimes excruciatingly numbing tasks - spent several hours logging articles into a database on the toxic constituents of tobacco smoke, for example - and taking a few minutes to consider why anyone would think of TGF and Prost as equals was a nice diversion.
With very few exceptions, I hold Prost at the top of any list. |

This always catches the rookies who come here. I fell for that too. I always type Jacques when I mention my favourite driver. I wonder what colour he has dyed his hair this time, or whether he has enough hair to dye.

Prost
Liz,
Yes, Prost, now there was a Pilot (to borrow your word). Makes TGF seem less the complete driver to my eyes. And for Alain in an age when it was not expected from big business. |
