San Marino GP confirmed till 2009
Imola mayor confirmed this agreement after meeting Ecclestone in London.
Any echoes beyond the Channel? Last edited by climb; 22 Nov 2004 at 15:29. |

Bernie said in a tv interview last week that he may be interested in cutting Italy and Germany back to one Grand Prix each in future.
If Imola is signed up, where does that leave Monza? |

Doesn't make sense to me, leaving the worst of the two in terms of excitement on the calendar while kicking the better one out...
How much bribemoney did they pay Bernie? |

Probably one cent more than French and British GP organisers...

Why keep the San Marino GP?
The pits are worse then Silverstone and BE wants more races outside of Europe. SO like Kicking-bak what is going to happen to Monza, is it going to go instead? I hope not. |

I can't understand the logic behind this either. Unless we're moving towards 20 races a year, this should've been an obvious one to drop, as hasn't been especially well-attended in recent years, isn't a great racetrack anymore, and holds some awful memories.

Cant say i am too thrilled, yes one extra race a year but the Imola races are a drab affair.

I'd rather they dropped Hungaroring.

A shame that they couldn't have raced on the proposed street circuit, infact have you seen the Budweiser advert with Marc Gene driving his Williams around that track shaped around the Budweiser logo I'm sure that circuit has more to offer. As or Imola signed for another five years I'm sure it's because Bernie is making sure that he signs all the top circuits as long as he can incase of the GPWC. But I doubt that is the case. In any case one positive things about Imola is that such a race is held where the motorsport passion is the hottest in the world. |

Are there any plans to modify the circuit to improve the spectacle.
A Tilke sharp bend at Tamburello would be better than the current chicane, at least it would give an overtaking spot. Then get rid of Villeneuve (the corner, not the Sauber plodder) and let them run down to Tosa like they used to. |

Imola....Great.
If the track was altered somewhat, then it could be more viable. However, INEVITABLY, if any changes are made they will doubtless make everything worse. |

It was stated that the San Marino GP has been extended. So i presume that it will run under the San Marino GP until 2009.
Does anyone know when Monza's contract is up ? |
