Kelvinaroo Courts Til 2008....
From RaceNews, V8Supercar and anywhere else
AVESCO 20 Dec 2004 TEGA reappoints Kelvin O'Reilly as General Manager for another three years The Board of Touring Car Entrants Group (TEGA) has unanimously reappointed General Manager Kelvin O’Reilly for a further three years, underpinning the work of the key V8 Supercar Championship Series figure. O’Reilly, who is also TEGA Chairman, has been TEGA General Manager for the past two years. He was unanimously re-appointed through until 2008. TEGA is a 75 per cent stakeholder in the V8 Supercar Championship Series responsible for the teams, technical and operational management of the series and the provision of race cars and drivers. Together with Sports Entertainment Limited (SEL), TEGA forms the Australian Vee Eight Supercar Company (AVESCO) in an alliance that has presided over the extraordinary growth of V8 Supercars since 1997. Inaugural AVESCO Chairman Tony Cochrane has also just been re-elected for a further three years. Members of the TEGA Board said in a joint statement that O’Reilly’s re-appointment ensures strong leadership of the Touring Car Entrants Group. “Kelvin has been pivotal in the decision making processes that are critical to the Championships’ growth. His broad range of business skills have proved beneficial in his role, requiring proficiency and understanding in areas as diverse as finance, legal, sporting and technical,” the statement said. “Critically, Kelvin has an intimate understanding of the key issues within the teams’ businesses, and the broader issues that face TEGA as a business moving forward. “His methods of management and administration of a complex organisation in what can often be a volatile environment are the key reasons for his reappointment.” TEGA also announced the appointment of Steve Brow as series Technical Director. Brow has been acting in the position since former Technical Director Paul Taylor accepted a senior position in the World Rally Championship in Europe. KMart Racing Team Manager Rob Crawford had initially taken the position but a subsequent reshaping of that team meant he decided to remain in Melbourne and oversee a bid for the 2005 Championship. “As it turns out Steve has proved the perfect man for the job,” O’Reilly said. “Steve has acquitted himself magnificently in the role at four of the biggest events on the calendar – the Bathurst 1000, the Gillette Challenge, the Tasmanian Triple Challenge and BigPond Grand Finale. “This proved to both TEGA and Steve himself that the he is more than capable of assuming the role and doing an exceptional job in ensuring technical standards of our teams remain of the highest order.” Ok... the Kelvinaroo issue... This raises some questions... first one is WHY?? Did they scout the world to search for a motorsport administrator of repute and fine standing... did they even take note of the issues this particular administrator seems to continually cause by pressuring media output in a certain direction? Or does he work cheap? Quite a strange, and arguably silly move I would have said, considering the problems caused by Kelvin in the trials and tribulations of the "Symbol" era, and the rubbish eminating from his media releases about the "Woomeragate" alleged incident. Unless the Godfather is in play here... keeping your friends close, and your enemies even closer is on the table.... Now for Mr Crawford.... Is this intrinsically linked to the above... perhaps there was meant to be a changing of the guard that never eventuated... thinking aloud for a minute, what will happen with the promotion of Mr Pender to team manager for Kmart... is that still on or is Mr Crawford off to HRT on secondment? There is more to both than the eye can immediately see.... |

O'Reilly will end up a liability to TEGA. Can't see how he was voted in unanimously either.

Ignoring the failings 99.9% of people may be able to see in the 2 newly-extended employees of TEGA/AVESCO....
... in the world of business risk... it would be deemed highly courageous of an entity that seems to put so much faith into two members of its community to have contractual arrangements that stop at the same time. But that's just me... living in the commercial world... not the fantasyfarm of TEGA/AVESCO |

Maybe that is when TC will have enough money in his wallet from all the suc.....um fans to retire. KO might be TC's right hand man in his retirement if he can bring enough money into TC's pocket.

Seeing everybody being re-elected unanimously, reminds me of the old Soviet Union where the General Secretary was always "elected" with 100% of the vote.

“As it turns out Steve has proved the perfect man for the job,” O’Reilly said.
SPIN DOCTOR stuff. Then why was the job filled by the other perfect man for the job, who has now rejected it PT shoes will be hard to fill, Tassie is an example of how it can all go wrong. It was KO who looked like a *** in pit lane not knowing who to blame. Top level stuff ! propaganda |

Kelvin ran Super Touring as well. He did a sterling job, you can see how healthy Super Touring is now.

It sounds more like an election held in Uganda (IIRC) where the incumbent won by 100,000+ votes, the only trouble was that there was only 40,000 odd registered voters.
