It sounds bonkers, but he is contracted to Mercedes already and could at least test the car I suppose.
Rumours flying think and fast - been the busiest off season for years! |

Stranger things have happened, but I'd be very surprised at this. Why would Mika do a fairly thankless job on what should be his off-weekends, when there are plenty of young Mercedes-backed drivers who would be hungry for the role, not to mention de la Rosa and Wurz both being eligible?

I can see Mika going out for a test or two for ol' times sake....
but an official friday test driver role would be very unlikey |

Hmm, maybe if Mika was feeling nostalgic for the old days he may give the car a go on Fridays. I think this may be a case of wishful thinking. Still would love to see him in a F1 car again

Boots just reminded me of something, isn't Wurz being the 3rd/reserve driver for Mclaren in his contract? I know none of us will know what his contract is but I'm sure I remember something from a while ago regarding his status in the lineup.

I'm not sure, but think they promised Wurz he'd get to race if Kimi or JPM was unable to.

Another rumour that he will be running F1 practices in his Mercedes DTM car have not been confirmed by anyone at F1, mainly because I just made it up!
Easy this rumour game, isn't it! |

It's 99.9% that Wurz will be the Friday driver - although I'd expect de la Rosa will do it at the Spanish Grand Prix.

Mika Hakkinen quit F1 to spend more time with his family. It's highly unlikely that Mika will spend EVERY weekend driving racing cars.

I concur. He may turn up for a promotional run or two, but doing it every second weekend - No.

But if he has the desire to race F1 again, it would be the perfect way to get back into it. Better than the JV (tm) way...
It's not like he'd be denied a SuperLicence |

Yes, but he doesn't have the desire to do F1 again.
He's chosen the DTM because it's safer, less race weekends and all easily travel-able to. |

From various articles I have read, particularly in F1 Racing, the desire to come back to F1 WAS there, but only with the right team, i.e. Williams. Once they chose to try to get Button, it went away.
