Rick should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Jean Todt and his movie stars!!

from F1-live.com

"It is like when you produce a movie. You need stars so that you know you are going to sell the movie all over the world. Ferrari in its business is a star and we want to be paid like a star." - Jean Todt

Is Ferrari deliberately trying to *upset* as many people as they can? You win, you get more prizemoney - sounds fair to me!

So by your "fair" formula, who should be getting the most money?

Minardi!
Ofcourse, pay the most to the least successful team!

Just watch how every team then scrambles in a bid to make the worst car of them all!

I think Mr. Todt suggests they should get more (and I believe that is the deal, but I maybe wrong as usual) win, lose or draw. The question I was really asking is the "deliberate" bit. This issue seems to be a sore point for the other teams (not prizemoney, Ferrari getting a bigger share of the pie) and he seems to be rubbing their noses in it.

I just read your response again Inigo - you may have misunderstood me - I DO think the prizemoney is the fair way, I was not being sarcastic. However the prizemoney should be a small proportion of the income generated.

It is the way it has always been - even before the Concorde.

Here are a few discussions on this, for background reading:
Teams pay Ferrari to compete...? (merged)(again)
Could there still be an F1 without Ferrari? (merged)
GPWC serious?

When you work in a big industry (for instance, I work on the railway), you are given a "long service award" to recognise your commitment to the company. I don't see a problem with this in F1.
