msb has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Would Skaife still have a job?

With Skaifes results going backwards over the last 3 years(3rd in 2003, 12th in 2004 and currently 17th) would Skaife have kept his drive if he was still only an employee?? Holden supporters on this Forum tell us that HRT are the best team ever! Would TW and Holden have put up with Skaifes dismal performance. I doubt it.

Hrmmm, interesting first post!

If you were to boot Skaife, you'd have to boot everyone who has won less than 5 championships and 4 Bathursts. Probably wouldn't leave you with too many cars in the field! Where did he finish in race 2 Adelaide after coming from the arse end of the field because the car broke?

If you race for long enough, you'll have bad seasons.

On average, and looking at raw speed even in the bad times, he's always been there.

Probably a bit harsh putting him in 17th after the first round. I am sure MA would be glad to know he has achieved the 3peat already!

Skaife is still one you would sign up if you had a new team. Going by this thread there are a few others that have under achieved...
Ingall
Bargwanna
Kelly (x2)
McConville
Johnson
Lowdnes
Seton
Tander
Richards (the one that runs into ppl all the time...)

have all failed to impress in recent years - doesn't make them rubbish, just getting shown up by a team and driver on top of their game.

Even in tough times, Skaife is always quick. If I was in charge of HRT, I'd be keeping him around for a few more years yet.

hmmmm very interesting 1st post. Taking the pee I think.
3 years of average racing.

Wasnt CL heard to have said on the podium last weekend.
"Its only taken me ***** 4 years"
Would you have sacked him.....I think not
and we think Skaifies record speaks for itself.

Without taking into consideration his past results and going on 2004 results alone it would be a tough one....Perhaps if he was a driver of a certain revolving door Ford team (that no longer exists) he would have got the boot halfway through the season. Skaife's year last year could have been loosely compared to Wilson's 02 season....Great qualifying, poor race results.

I would've though that the question might have been answered well enough over there... or on Conrod... is this a census? or a test? Three chances to get the right answer? C'mon

Naahh, if it was Tom, why would he bother asking us whether he should've sacked Skaifey... he'd make that decision by himself wouldn't he?

I dispise the man....but I think he can steer alright. He is a very good driver.....as it has beed said before.....everyone can have an off season....I reckon he focus was taken away when he bought HRT............I think it shows you cant do both (drive and manage a team)

Have to say that if he didn't improve over the next 2 years he might be in doubt but he has just had a bad run. It is a run that a lot of drivers go through when they turn into team owners in Australia and thru out the world. Overall I have to say that skaife has still been a front running driver and if you were betting on a holden driver it would be hard to look past skaife

Even with the problems of the last 2 seasons Skaife is still among the top 5 and maybe even top 3 drivers in this series and if he was on the market he would be chased by every team that could afford him.

That being said I am still hoping a couple of guys can get the better of him this year.
