WTCC: Mexico
So which BMW is going to win this weekend's races?
Having looked at the circuit its definately not going to be happy hunting ground for Alfa, very twisty with some long front-tyre-killing corners, especially the final turn, sheesh, reminds me of the final turn at Estoril. |

And because of altitude engines will lose horsepower. Cars with heavy handicap will have a yet more difficult race at this circuit.

Normally * If a car weighs 1140 kg and has 270 bhp, this is 4.22 kg/bhp. * If a car weighs 1200 kg (60 kg ballast) and has 270 bhp, this is 4.44 kg/bhp. -> that is 0.22 kg/bhp extra Because of the high altitude the engines produces say 20% less power * If a car weighs 1140 kg and has 216 bhp, this is 5.27 kg/bhp. * If a car weighs 1200 kg (60 kg ballast) and has 216 bhp, this is 5.55 kg/bhp. -> that is 0.28 kg/bhp extra So it is a bigger handicap. |

OTOH, if adding race weights (artificially) keep the racing close and tight, won't it make it more entertaining. Perhaps a non-BMW/Alfa can win a race. Honda deserves. It would be encouraging for Chevy to win one as well.
The classic idealogy comes up again--are we unfairly punishing a team for putting together a competitive package! |

Miguel E. Abed racetrack is a completely rebuilded circuit, i knew the old one and in my opinion is a completly new one, is twisty because the circuit is in the infield of a 1.5 mile oval circuit, in the near future is proyected to be certify by NASCAR and i guess by the end of the year the mexican stock car series will start to race there The circuit is incredible very well maded, is builded with the public in mind, from the place where i will watch the race (turn 1) i can see as far as the last corner Future upgrades for the circuit are being planned for leave it even better than is right now |

There used to be a Mexican Touring Car series using largely Dodge Neons. It's too bad if Mexico becomes a Nascar follower instead of a touring car one!

It seems to be very chaotic weekend so far. Dirty track(drivers complain about it) , casual rain during tests, and two red flags during 1st practice.
Thompson won 1st practice, second running now. Practice 1 results 1 James THOMPSON Alfa Romeo 156 1:31.302 2 Augusto FARFUS JR. Is Chevy (and Ford if it would be) 10 kilos lighter? I know Ford suggested a weight reduction for "hatchback" cars, which SEAT seems to want too.
Sincerely i don´t like this kind of changes. |

Is that snow or talc on the track? And the out-field is a ploughed field! So what's the problem with the RWD cars?
