Larko's SBR upgrade
Don't know if it has been mentioned but Bargs now has a current spec SBR engine as opposed to the 2003 spec they have been using (and still in #20) Had problems with it in practice with lack of top end but has to be a step forward to seeing last years results again.
ps. Great job in qual frosty. |

Important thing to note is Frosty has a new engineer working with him this weekend, and thus far seems to be working quite well. The new engineer is from DJR I think, can't remember his name.

Very strange... either way, the Orrcon cars will do better with Mr Wheeler aboard, who should be able to assist to identify and sort some long standing chassis issues.
No news on the new chassis then? |

Not that I heard. Didn't hear anything about car #20 getting a new spec motor either.
Which car did Wheeler work on at DJR? |

Mr Wheeler was Technical Director at DJR, in charge of chassis design and manufacture...

Is the LMS motor the same spec as the T888 motor, or does Larko have a special deal with SBR. If not does that mean the there are 6 same spec SBR at Hidden Valley this weekend.???.

It was reported during the broadcast that Bargs has an '05-spec engine, while Frosty had the '04-spec...

#1, #9, #888 and #88 rotate their motors between the cars. So they are all the same.

I reckon that the Larko package has been enhanced considerably by Wheeler and with the SBR engine updates.
It certainly puts the team in good stead for the future and should make all the sponsors happy too. Word has gone quiet on the Larko sale/equity partner though and it was announced back at Easter time. Bargs was coy on The Panelbeaters on Friday too. All very interesting..... Of course, it seems that Team Riva is a Holden team platform |

An incredible effort from Winterbottom in qualifying.
Who is DJR's technical director now? Is it someone who can get them up the front sometime soon? |

Ford Motorsport will be the decision maker here, supposedly the 3 teams they support to the hilt will get the premium engines in 2006.... I still reckon Ford should encourage all its supported teams to source their engines from SBR.. to build up the infrastructure, and have the whole Ford side running the same engine. This would do 2 things... drive cost efficiencies by one powerplant across many teams so therefore one development program not 10, and also would make the parity situation a lot easier as the Fords would all be the same engine-wise. Here's hoping this is the end game... |

WHY not just Get SBR to build engines for every team, this would help the parity site, and also double as a cost saver, because less resources would have to be put into engine development. Im kidding. what a stupid idea

HMS was trying something like that originally, with the supply of Chevs to customer teams... till that "Symbol" purple haze descended anyway |
