Ansan
This is from a link provided directly from ChampCar's homepage. It obviously contains quite a few errors, almost as if it was run through a standard online translator!

The Champcar news links on the homepage puzzles me, it seems to be an automated system that searches for the word "Champcar" in a story and scoops it up and adds it to the news links box, even if the story isn't that complimentary..... Still, I'm intriqued about this new event, the pictures of the course I've seen look interesting, even if the different renders of the park can't seem to agree on the track layout! |

1000 participants? Wow - Champ Car is in much better shape than we've been led to know!
And a 357,000 square kilometer facility. That's like a race around the US! |

Yeah...
"Once every five years" is wrong. "1000 participants" is wrong. "357,070 square kilometres" is wrong. And "20,000 spectators" can't be right. The width of the track - 13 to 18 meters? Yeah, sure. |

I hate to beat a dead horse, but as codename_47 suggested, I can't believe that the ChampCar homepage links to articles like this.

Somehow South Korea's media has a bit of a problem with mathematics.

The link from the Champ Car homepage has apparently changed. Now it says "once each year for five years" and 100,000 spectators instead of 20,000. It STILL says 1,000 participants from 18 nations, which I consider to be playing on words to make it look big.

The 1000 participants from 18 nations might not be that big of a stretch. When you consider all of the people that travel with the teams... That would have to be mnore that 50 people per car.. it might be a little high but i can see where the number might have come from... It is a team sport after all...

Good point, extreme. And perhaps they're counting the support series as well.

And the officials... Tony Cotman is a New Zealander, and there may be workers from other countries besides the US. (Don't assume anything -- I'm not going!)

Not much info there is there? With less than 4 weeks to go. No tickets. No support races. Also Hunter-Reay article says its a 'temporary street course' but elsewwere its a specially built stadium. From pictures I have seen I wondered if the builders missread the instructions. Kart not CART?

Caught that "temporary street course," too, Rob 29. There was a release in that link dating back to February or March for a groundbreaking over there. Who does a groundbreaking for a temporary street course eight months in advance of the race?

It's probably the webmaster not updating the information.

...Although things are strange. The ChampCar website doesn't provide any information whatsoever, including "Driving Directions", "Contact Info", "Schedule"...

I was talking today with a Japanes friend involved in motorracing and he told me some strange things. After that my feeling is that there will be no race. |

I have heard, unconfirmed, that there's some problem with the promoter there.....the lack of news, good or bad, about an inaugural race in a new country for CC, especially in light of the quiet and late cancellation last year, certainly leads to that kind of speculative thinkin', Obus.
