"This independent, Australian owned company was established by motor racing legend Dick Johnson, with the vision to offer Australians a better choice and a better deal on a range of products and services."
So they are now funding themselves..... I think i would prefer to have someone else sponsor me than my own company. |

The current livery on the DJR cars looks great, I hope they come up with something just as good.

Bizarre!
If this rumour is in any way true, V8 Mortgages will need to sign up a whole lot of borrowers between now and early 2006 to generate the cash flow required to run a two-car V8 Supercar team, plus of course the operations of the fledgling company too. Junior may have to get a headset on, and race down to the call centre. |

It would make sense for tax reasons.
Similar to WPS in many ways, do you really think WPS can afford to go V8 and Champ Car racing ? |

While tax losses can be carried forward, and used to minimise future profits; they unfortunately cannot provide the upfront capital (i.e. cash) to kick the venture off.
WPS is somewhat different in that it is associated with Mr Gore, who has made substantial profits from real estate dealings previously; and thus has cash behind it fund promotional activity, such as motorsport. |

Seton for #888 whilst it still marked as not an equal number one seat, hopefully Seto can sneak in to find a home for a good few years in amazingly enough a top line car (unlike that Stegbar drive which is for superstars only with the equal #1 arrangement, and as it should be). |

So what are the chances of Seto partnering Lowndes once again at Betta Electrical? If DJR do release him, is there a REALISTIC chance of Glenn driving #88 or is that just fantasy stuff?
Because if they do let him go, where on earth will/can Seton end up? There's nothing left!?! |

Time is probably running out for Seton for a full time drive. But I can definitely see his value for the enduros with his extensive experience.

I beleive another company would be behind this & using Dick as a figure head & my guess is it would be Westpoint. I can't imagine Dick would have the capital, market knowledge or interest in going this alone but this is just a hunch I could be wrong of course

I can't see why Dick wouldn't honour his 2 year contract? So Glenn joins the list of people like Paul Radisich, Max Wilson and Warren Luff who all get the boot and mysteriously somehow Steven Johnson stays on board?
I believe Steven is there because of his talent, but surely the word "nepotism" must come up if every other driver gets the arse and Steven stays, I mean fair go? I still believe Glenn Seton will still pilot the #18 DJR BF Falcon in 2006. |

Again, I need to stress, this is not an attack on Steven Johnson, but how many years in a row can Dick justify doing this?
What has Glenn Seton done that's been so rotten that Steven hasn't? And also, what part of "the cars are a problem, not the drivers" does Dick not understand? Even in those instances when Steven's made the shootout, he never improves and just hovers around and slips back. Not Steven's fault, the car's have been battling understeer and qualifying propblems ALL YEAR! At one stage in the opening 4 rounds, we all thought DJR were onto it, now this mid-season slump has lingered for far too long. I fail to see how firing Glenn Seton will help? Again, let's hope this is all rubbish, because I have my doubts that unless Lowndes has a say, that Roland Dane wont hire Seton. If Lowndes couldn't convince Dane to pair him with Ellery, what are the chances of Dane listening to Craig on this one? |

Seton's results this side of the new millenium hardly recommend him to a top seat. DJR's results this side of 1995 hardly recommend them to a top driver. While I reckon Steve Johnson knows how to punt a car, he's simply too firmly entrenched as part of the furniture at DJR to be a "hungry" driver. He'd be better off driving just about anywhere else.... and it would be a better way for the rest of us to judge his true worth in the car.
I'd like to see DJR keep Seto there and pair him with a young charger... say Davo... with the young guy on a 2-year contract to see how he goes.... I think the 12 months they gave Luffy was a little short (a bit like sending your puppy to the pound just as you'd got him to stop sh!tting on the hallway rug) and they need to invest more time in all these promising young guys that they're signing up left right and centre.... otherwise they're ony breaking them in for somebody else! As for 888... what would Seto bring to the team that no other driver in the field could? |

I suspect at this stage Glenn has not lost as much speed as what many think and Steve is probably better than his results are indicating. If both drivers are still at DJR next year, I think we should see better things from them following the ground made this year. It can take a long time to get to the pointy end, look at FPR and 888 as well. I am sure a lot of the gains at 888 have come from the "SBR experience" both from the engines and Cambell Little. Should the rumors be at all true, then perhaps Glenn could add something to 888, he could add the consistency that has been missing from there second car this year. This championship is based on consistency and finishing up the order. Glenn should be capable of top six finishes in any team with a competitive car. If he doesn't get the chance at DJR, lets hope he gets a good chance elsewhere. |
