Bruno Senna
How I here you ask, well Bruno Senna is the 20 year old is the nephew late great Aryton and his is going to make his Formula BMW debut at Brands Hatch this weekend. He will drive one of Carlin Motorsport cars.
Now according to todays Motor Sport News this will be his first car race, but he has done a lot of karting. It will be very interesting to see how he goes. Last edited by rdjones; 18 Aug 2004 at 19:16. |

It'll certainly attract a lot of attention.
I wish him well. His uncle's name is Ayrton, incidentally. Last edited by Kicking-back; 18 Aug 2004 at 19:10. |

Well, whether it will be magical or not, it certainly has a ring to it which brings a smile to my face in the current "who needs to battle" era.......

he will be under a lot of pressure and comparisons to his great uncle will be made at a very young age... just hope he can handle it and people realise that greatness like Ayrton's comes once in a 100 years..
Best of luck to him |

Very true. What we are talking about here is a guy who hasn't karted for ten years, and has very little time in a car. If his name wasn't Senna, I wouldn't expect him to be anywhere higher than near the back. Are genes really that important? We might be about to find out.

I don't expect much from him really... as Bruno Senna pointed out, he just wants to learn at this stage. Lucky him to be related to Ayrton... Carlin is a good place to start.

They're not talking about F3 in the near future, just that that's the intended direction to take from BMW.

From what I can remember reading a while ago Bruno was doing pretty well in Karting up until he was 10, he stopped racing (stopped by his family) following the death of Aryton. I think he got back on a Kart when he was 18. I'm fairly sure he has been racing 100cc karts and also 250cc super karts to quickly get back into it ready for this move into cars.
If i'm right and he's been out in super karts a formula BMW shouldnt be too difficult to get to grips with. All the best to him, the name Senna will sure help but i'm pretty sure it could also hinder a little along the way. |

Every driver has expectations. Id rather have money, connections, and free press to go with it.
