New 3 year agreement for Rotax Max Karting
Well I didn't see this coming. Excellent news for the series.

Are they truly building a "ladder"?
Win in one series, get a seat in the next? Great stuff! |

The understanding over on this side of the pond, is that the Rotax announcement is in response to the Stars of Karting and Indy Racing League partnership created last year. While it's great that the two big series are showing some support of karting and offering some marketing assistance, no real ladder has been created. Neither series provides a real next step, with Atlantics being the next level on Champ Car side and Indy Pro on the IRL side. In addition, I don't believe either gives real financial support. While all in all it's a good start, not really a big deal.
Cheers, |

yeah good for the guys it actually works for.
we had/have (not sure if its still happening or not) a similar thing here in Australia sponsored by Ford. hasnt produced alot of results in the way of a genuine ladder for a young bloke though. (now watch as someone comes on and posts and proves me completely wrong LOL) |

Didn't champcar used to have the Stars of Tomorrow, or something like that, as their karting ladder? It was right before Barber Dodge. I definitely remember seeing links for it on the champcar website only a few years ago.

Not quite what you asked for Marcus, but some of the sprint karters jumped upto Formula Ford (probably more due to rich parents than sponsored help) and caused much merriment for us standing trackside (no biggies, but many foolish bingles.)
