C&CC magazine

It appears that two of us in the office are responsible for the entire CCC and Rallysport archives, icluding an enourmous amount of pictures of national and international motorsport - anyone have any ideas what to do with it all?

Post them here? Send me all the ones of SD1s and send Peter Mallett all the Capri shots? Write another book?

Not wishing to be completely self serving here, but Mark Hales did a feature on my bright orange RX7 in CCC in2003, and I didn't get the photo's before they shut down - so you can sell those to me for a start if you came over all benevolent.........

Assuming you have also acquired the copyright why not look to republish batches of the Track Tests? This could be done in magazine format with a Triple C front cover.

I always read the Art Marcos pieces first. He was an ace journalist!

PS Al, are you sure it isn't a Capri? It looks a bit Dagenhamish!

Scan em in and burn them to cd/dvd - then flog 'em

There must be loads of really good stuff in those archives (particularly the rallycross stuff ).

I'm the Deputy Editor of Racecar Engineering, when Rallysport and CCC closed they were incorporated into RE, and the archives came with that but nobody realised. about two months ago looking for a picture of a Hillman Imp we discovered the archive again. (its in a warehouse like the one in Indiana Jones)

What Imp are you running Andy ? I seem to be forever working on Imps without ever finishing any of them. Friend has davrian mk 4, mk7, and a Davrian Imp. with fresh 998 carter engines living in his dining room cupboard etc.

Does anyone ever finish an imp?

I used to work on them both competition and customers cars for one of the top Imp people of the 60's, also used to build competition engines for them but it was a hell of a long time ago!

problem is everyone wants different bits, and usage has to be seen to benefit the magazine in some way - I've just started on a project using the archive so you will see something from me soon. But I'm really stumped...

the CCC book of imps - how many copies would that sell?

please keep the ideas coming - we may investigate putting some old CCC content on the racecar site.

Could you pull together articles from the various different categories and release books of re-prints? (rally, imp, rallycross, Group B, Escort, Mini or whatever)

Flat Out Farr should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
i had all the original Andy Dawson articles from CCC as well as the Speedsport book on Imps. the latter still resides on my bookshelf. C and CC did some good grass roots articles, before they decided to become another Autocar type mag. Two of my cars were featured in CCC. They also did an article on sprinting B19 mafia clubman's cars, when Nigel Fryatt double drove them. It was hillarious. Especially watching Les Beer trying to sell Nigel's partner a kitchen at North Weald. Aaah Happy Days! What i liked about the early CCc was that they put their money where their mouth was and built cars to race or rally. The Nova articles are still relevant for anyone wanting to race a Nova in the Tand RC series.

i've got a 72 imp, which at the moment is in bits as the head gasket went (sound familiar?) when its running its a 998cc based on the talbot 930 b1 block ,with a ported sport head an R17 cam and twin 150cd strombergs ,lightened flywheel and balanced and lighened bottom end,a very similar spec to the works rally cars i'm led to believe. It sits on spax adjustable shocks and monte carlo spec springs.Other than a janspeed exhaust and some recliners out of a metro gti thats about it for now.Plans include some 13" alloys as finding 175/70 r12 tyres is impossible,a disc brake conversion and adj bias valve for the brakes and maybe some grp panels to lighten it a bit.
